Could this possibly be a decent, even good, story about self-knowledge and self-transformation delivered via a NSFW work of fiction? Signs point to maybe.

Now to chapter 2: I never thought I’d see a character use phrenology in a manga (forehead massage). Outstanding work in putting that in to portray a character’s personality and manipulative aspects in story.

I’m hooked on this story... I’m interested to see if this goes towards a dream-like happy end or a more dramatic and tragic end for a girl lacking the scruples to watch out for pitfalls in sex trade. I’m leaning towards the happy end because that sells more copies if it gets licensed elsewhere.

Lots of room to interpret this manga, and I’m not as gifted at expressing viewpoints as well as others on this website, so I’ll just observe the flame wars on this thread for fun.

This was a magnificent chapter two. That feeling I got from Amano's works before, this quality that displayed people at their purest and most genuine, is shown here too. I'm really happy she continued that theme and hasn't lost it. In fact it's been made even more obvious now. Excited to see more.

Gosh.. this work is so fascinating.. you could interpret MC as being manipulated or just genuinely serious of finding herself in an unconventional way. This premise hasn't been handled so well by authors so this is exciting.

Now I'll digress cos suddenly I remembered watching that Asian Boss episode where a male prostitute talked about their industry.. It all sounded strangely professional in a sense that's unique to the Japanese. Although this is fiction I wonder if this is how lesbian escort service work in a way..? Knowing it's the naughty Shuninta, she must have an idea, lol. Information about lesbian escort services are so limited. Anyway looking forward to next ones!

honestly the exact thing that got me VERY interested in this series (especially by Shuninta) was the credit she put on the title page for a Research Assistant. so someone absolutely did some research!

Japanese law only defines prostitution as "coitus" so lots of sex work is legal, including all sorts of homosexual services.

So when are the other Kindred Spirits on the Roof characters showing up? I'm looking forward to seeing Nena for sure!

Also, it would certainly be an amusing twist if her first client turned out to be her friend from chapter 1.

You mean her now co-worker?

Oh, no, the friend that set up her first escort appointment for her, but I see now how my comment didn't make that clear.

EDIT: Wrong series. I'm dumb. I guess that'll happen when you're reading two lesbian brothel series at the same time.

Omg!!! You're right! Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't notice that she actually put credit there for her research assistant until you pointed it out! So basically there are elements of non-fiction here. This got more fascinating. Way to go Shuninta!

Oh my. This is going to be fun.

This is just some good old fashion Shuninta fun and that might be my favorite kinda of smut. Deeply sexual while having this loviness that just straddles the line of saccharine that lets you still buy in the way that full camp struggles with.

Hyperreal on an emotional level but still weirdly grounded.

Seems she was very much not a fan of Cocoa trying too hard

Shuninta continues to deliver quality content. Their ability to perfectly fuse a classy, fun sense of sexiness with layered characterization and realistic interactions makes this series so much fun to read. I wonder what prompted Satou to leave? I get the feeling that she thought Cocoa was too pure and earnest to handle, and wanted someone more professional for her first time. I wonder how this'll influence Cocoa's approach to her trade- will she still try to maintain that wholesome image, but seek out compatible clients, or adjust herself to a more mature, confident aura? I honestly hope it's the former- the mix of wholesomeness and horniness is what helps this series so neatly sidestep many of the potential pitfalls around a prostitution-oriented series, and Cocoa finding acceptance and support in her job would be a lot more satisfying than seeing her trying to adjust herself to the whims and demands of a sex-starved clientele.

Isn't Satou supposed to be a repeat customer (or something like that)? I agree that the reason Satou left was because she didn't like Cocoa trying too hard, but I'm not sure if that's because it was Satou's first time. Not sure what's up with her.

Also, lol at Ryou being tsundere

Maybe Satou wanted a clumsy submissive Cocoa, and Rin ruined that image when she tried to take the lead?

Yeah, she's a regular. I misread Cocoa's first time as Satou's first time, sorry. Though now I'm wondering why they set her up with a client who's got way more experience than her. I wonder if they wanted Cocoa to be out of her element and get confused so she can understand that the job's not all fun and games. The people running the service seem too kind for a trial by fire, but it's a fairly common trope, so we'll have to wait and see.

Cocoa was a little patronizing with the "don't be nervous" when satou is obviously a regular. Or maybe satou didn't like how cocoa was trying to be someone she isn't. I'm guessing satou wanted the clumsy quirky coco. Tune in next time to find out
