Is this actually true anywhere, or is it just the mangaka making something up for the sake of the story?

(Or is it supposed to be a local stereotype that evolved because the pinkhead MC started to believe it, then act like it, thus creating the stereotype by inadvertently planting it in everyone else's heads?)

Arent they wrong though. The sterotype for pink hair is Yandere.

So here are the sterotypes i know for hair style/color.

Black Hair: Cool, emotionless, ice kings/queens, dignified, smart

Blond: well we know the sterotype for blond is technically what their trying to make the sterotype for pink.

Pink: Yandere

White: Mysterious

Twin tails: Tsundere

I dont know why people come up with sterotypes for hair but they do. It's weird.

pink is associated with eroticism in japan. not only, of course, but it's one thing.

Pink is definitely a color associated with eroticism (frankly everywhere I feel; if not that than at least romance, and red being more "erotic"), but the hair color thing to me is odd too.

I'd primarily associate it with calm and quiet, somewhat bookish characters, like Nodoka (Saki), Miyuki (Lucky Star),Watashi (Jinrui) and so on. Unless it's a very striking pink, then it's more "genki girl" I'd say.

But maybe the confusion is that pink real life hair is seen that way and that it's different in manga and anime? I wouldn't know about that, so that'd make some sort of sense to me.

hair colour is an easy way to suggest or emphasise personality traits. maybe it's more exaggerated in japanese media due to one hair colour and style being overwhelmingly common and a history of strict dress codes, so dyeing your hair is a much stronger statement

but it isn't like much of the west wouldn't use blonde, redheaded or brunette arche/stereo-types in at least more lighthearted media.

Not really, I used to dye my hair entirely because I just wanted to.
Lots of my friends have also died their hair at one point or another, usually just to emulate their favourite anime character.

"Pink film" is Japanese euphemism for "pornographic film", IIRC. Maybe that's where the "pink = slutty" thing comes from / alludes to?

People come up with stereotypes for everything and everyone. Hair isn't anything special.

This is actually from a larger series about different characters with different hair colors. I can't read Japanese so I don't know blue's deal, all I know is that the relationship in that story is straight :( and we'll work on it after pink.

Oh there's also an orange, though no green iirc.

You need to refer to Containment Protocols for each individual SCP. And when dealing with a potential K Class scenario like this one, evacuation protocols are much more discretionary, as the Council will not necessarily have time to render a decision.

Blue color hair has its’ own meaning according to “Blue is the Warmest Color”— that graphic novel is a great read, although the movie based on it is crap. As for green, I dunno, although dyeing hair to stand out or stand apart might mean something. If a social group identifies itself through different hair color, there you go: either sports team/fan club, school spirit, or trying to hide gray/white hair.
