Well, Mochi has said before that they wanted to draw yaoi initially, but they sucked at drawing guys, so they drew yuri instead.

Yaoi and porn stars? I should be completely appalled, but somehow I don't mind. At least nobody was pretending that traps aren't gay here.

Agreed. Mochi-drawn Mochi is a thing, and these collaborations are a different thing, but both are infused with Mochi-power.

Enough so in this case to make yaoi (not usually my fave) seem quite adorable.

I like how the pointy-haired director(?) guy keeps thinking like a fanfic author spitballing storyboard drafts.

I don't care about the yaoi or cross-dressing, but the thing about "modeling" and turning to be "porn" isn't my thing. The art is cute though.

I'm somewhat surprised the MC considers his real gender being found out will be a worse scenario than the fact he just got deceived into joining a porn film.

It's almost as surprising as the fact this was co-authored by Mochi, and no one has yet said the standard "Met my childhood friend while doing porn" kind of alternative title joke.

The worst thing being that it's really a thing in Japan. Street scouts recruiting girls for "modeling", who end up getting raped, filmed and blackmailed into doing more or "it will leak on the Internet and your family will disown you".

It would have worked better without the porn part. The director being a woman was an obvious attempt at making it more acceptable. It failed.

Blastaar's right, Mochi is the one who consistently glorifies incest and reguarly uses blackmail and drugs as plot devices, so I think expecting any more from her is indeed too optimistic.

That kind of makes the occasional golden ideas she has all the more delightful though.

If the genders were switched and it turned into yuri I wonder if it'd still be considered "gross" as some comments have been. There's a good amount of plots that have shady dealings in public area's that end up yuri which don't have comments crying foul.

I have had bad experiences with bringing up this double standard around here... I just try not to let it get to me too much, but yeah, this stuff is bad no matter what gender is involved.
I think the actual reason people are not too critical with it in Mochi's works is that she always gives the characters a happy end and ignores the bad implications for a more fantastic version of it.
