I was sort of liking it, but I don't like polyamory or better said, the black haired girl settling down just to stay close to her senpai. That's my cue to leave.

Kind of what im feeling after that last chapter.

Don't want. This was good until the cheating. Zip, I'm gone.

It turned into a polyamory. I'm okay with that.

Polyamory is preferable to someone being left out as far as I’m concerned, as long as you can sufficiently convince me that they all actually want it. How much I’ll like this turn remains to be seen.

I mean... polyamory is one thing, but it's pretty shitty behaviour to unilaterally turn your ambiguous sex friends/vaguely romantic couple relationship into a threesome when one partner clearly isn't into it but doesn't want to just give up and walk away, regardless of your preferred upper limit on partners. I mean, it's gotta feel pretty bad for Miko, to have spent so long getting Tae to open up and trying to go at her pace, to suddenly see her chasing this other woman so aggressively and not really caring that Miko doesn't want to share.

I'm not saying it's bad storytelling or can't be fun or whatever else people are liable to get defensive about - Kurogane Ken has always been into questionable relationships and hazy consent, so I was kinda expecting something like this to happen anyway - but just calling it polyamory doesn't actually make it any less morally ambiguous.

What the heck are you people saying about polyamory or any amory at all? They're just having sex. This is just porn. The only character that has romantic feelings is the black haired girl and she's clearly getting hurt by the whole situation. This is honestly disgusting.

Excuse-me, what kind of romance starts with two girls sharing a house wherein they share bed-time stories, both naked, while one is sucking the other boobs? And by the way, kisses are not allowed, yet...

Y'all never read/watched anything from Kurogane-sensei before

I had the good fortune to not see this series until today, so this months-late comment is directed at Chapter 4 because nobody vocalised the biggest problem for me.

It's not just that she was cheating, it's the complete non-event it was portrayed as which indicates a total lack of regard for gay relationships from the author. This basically felt like another take on "it's okay because they're just playing around before they get serious with a man", and it's absolutely revolting.

If there were any level of gravitas to the situation, it would be different. I loathe cheating, and I'm especially not fond of it being sprung out of nowhere in a hitherto-fluffy story, but I wouldn't say that cheating is so utterly taboo that you're not allowed to write a story about it. But this story isn't about the cheating, it just... happens. I'm left with a feeling that this is written from the perspective of someone who sees FxF relationships as nothing more than jerkoff material for men.

Funny thing is that this particular author has also made one of the better age-gap yuri mangas, Hoshikawa Ginza District 4.

Yeah, in terms of themes and execution, Kurogane Ken is generally hit-or-miss as far as my preferences go, but bait’n’switch to het seems pretty unlikely to me. Pretty darned unlikely indeed.

I agree.

Yeah. Earlier Tae said she liked her, but she obviously didn't like her enough to consider their relationship exclusive. The third girl is just wrong on all levels. "I figured out that the two of you not only live together but are involved sexually and it's clear that you're attracted to me, so do it with me too." No... just NO! You don't do that people. Especially someone who has authority over you at work! It's just plain stupid!

HGD4 still had that weird blackmail storyline in the middle.

Yeah, I was just looking at that, as it happens—that would be one of the “miss” parts of “hit-or-miss” I was talking about. Kind of exploitatively presented, but maybe not Yoshitomi Akihito-level exploitative, i guess.

Well, whatever Kurogane Ken’s faults, and they certainly do exist, a lack of committment to yuri hasn’t been one of them.

while i think of kurogane ken as competent author i don´t think he particulary excels at anything,
aside from HGD4 i don´t think any of his other works are particularly good im not saying they´re bad more like they ´re just average

This reminds me of a series where there's a girl who loves butts, a girls who loves people staring at her butt, and a girl who loves to hear the other two making love. It may sound stupid, but the story is pretty well executed. Now in this case of Kurogane's, I'd say the third wheel girl is quite similar (vouyerism anyone?) but the story is just pure stupidity. Out of nowhere sex scenes is what I'd describe.

He ruined the beautiful story with that shiet. I would forget about it and pretend that it never happened.

I don't understand why people hated that part so much. Sure, it was unpleasant, but it made sense within the context of the story, and was important for drawing a comparison between Sensei and the bookstore clerk, making a statement about consent in a story already built on a fairly disturbing relationship.

Like someone said earlier... it's porn. It doesnt have to have deep character motivations and logic. There are ways to critically analyze porn, yeah, but usually one of them is not "the emotional dynamics of this relationship aren't consistent." If you don't want to see some R-rated lesbian sex with a loose framework about cohabiting co-workers, probably not the series for you.
