WOMANCE!!!

Ooooor you could go with the simpler solution that he did a series about two friends for a non-yuri magazine and still managed to slip some yuri in anyway.

Yeah, I also got the impression he was straining hard against the limits of his publisher's spec, but I guess we'll never know. Even if that were the case, he wouldn't be able to state as much without burning bridges. He won't pay any bills by fostering a reputation for being non-compliant or indiscreet, especially after the whole tracing thing.

I might fantasize that he'd done this or that instead, or circumstances had been different, but whatever happens, he's a talented writer with a knack for elliptical storytelling and slow burn. I wish him well. Perhaps the stars will align for us all in the future.

Maybe his editor simply did not want full yuri in the manga.

Seems likely. From what I gather about manga publishing, the editor has quite a lot of say in story decisions, especially for a series.

I love the ending picture of the different grains of rice. I personally don't like brown rice it doesn't taste as nice. The author is differently stretching our pain as yuri fans with the super friends part but at this point my heart is already crushed that I no longer feel pain at this strip. What I feel is indifference to this manga. I do hope the author well in his future endeavours. But I probably won't read the next manga by him, who am I kidding if it has yuri or subtext yuri I'll read the shit out of it and complain cause we don't have that much material to not read the yuri/subtext yuri manga even if it’s bad.

By the way, Shou's specialty isn't yuri.

It's loli porn.

As someone pointed out elsewhere though, it's been a while since he did anything porny. But I think Stretch was his labor to get back into the good graces of his publishers after the tracing debacle, so who knows where he could go from here.

If his aim is to do more stuff that's not porn, despite the mess of an ending this is a pretty good addition to his resume. Certainly the audience numbers in Japan were high enough.

Basically me right now at work. I hate myself for allowing myself to get my hopes up that maybe, maybe we'll get more...

I love rereading my manga but this still hurts too much to reread right now.

Probably this. Still kinda disappointing to read, but I don't exactly hold it against Shou.

Shou should give in and acknowledge that he is destined to do Yuri manga.

I means there is a reason why he has only got success with yuri and hentai. His drawing on male character suck badly. And all of his male characters looked like clones of each other

SUPER FRIENDSHIP HOW BEAUTIFUL~☆

I would've been fine with a friendship manga, I really love stories revolving around fierce friendships, especially involving women, but this is just a slap in the face after the ridiculous amount of subtext we've been getting. This has just made me disappointed all over again, thanks Shou. The message feels like it's saying "oh yeah these two dig each other, but lol no theyre not together dont be stupid" which is something I hateee in mangas.

It's a shame because I enjoyed what Prism had before it was cancelled, but I wished Shou had either done a love story here in Stretch or had wrote a platonic friendship story if he couldn't do yuri in a non-yuri magazine. This just really sits badly with me. Because its a really great love story but to just shit on it at the end like this, and with such obvious 'ha ha audience no theyre not friends, theyre SUPERFRIENDS' just feels like BS. Ugh whatever Stretch, im gonna read the next VE chapter to make myself feel better

It's over 4000!

But seriously, there are still untranslated extras in the fourth volume, ie, the short color at the start of volume and special pages on stretching. On the other hand I'm relieved to see that at least my scans served as a basis for translating the epilogue, of which I am very grateful to the person who did that, but at the same time I am worried that Boon has not done that in almost four months, for now we can only wait and see if he responds to a comment someone made on his blog about the missing translations.

On the other hand if someone asks what happened to Shou in these last months, then I take the opportunity and make an update about it. In Yawaspi there has been no news about Shou since December, ie there has not been any announcement about a new series of Shou, so the only thing left is to wait. Moreover, Shou returned to Comic LO this month after an absence of one year and 10 months with the publication of the second chapter of Implicity and according to an entry on his blog it seems that he does not want the next chapter suffers from a similar delay. So seeing all this makes me think that Shou wants first finish Implicity before proceeding with a new series in Yawaspi, although this is only a theory on my part.

And about the end, I'm glad to see that Ran Saeki and Keiko Komatsu are friends or better said super amigas, although I do not deny that I would have liked a romantic ending, but not bother me as much as for a tantrum, which is the sensation that gives me more of a comment on this site. On the other hand I do not think anyone has forced Shou to do X or Y thing or that person has forbidden the yuri or romance, I just see it as the author simply wanted to tell a story of a friendship between two girls , besides that we must remember that after all that Stretch is simply a series of two girls stretching and living together in an apartment, nothing more and at no time was mentioned yuri or romance.

"WOMANCE"! How nice. Now I think that it would be much stranger if it suddenly turned out to be romance at the end of the series. Still, it's funny that Shou asks his characters "what is your relationship", showing that it's not just a normal friendship. I don't know what Shou was thinking, but it's interesting that Shou himself doesn't think it as a just-normal-friendship. Well, I think it fits the end the series. Happy womance life, Ran & Keiko :)
