This one remind me a lot of Cappucino. I like when cheating is show to destroy the sense of self of a person, it’s really good, the disorientated feeling it’s good! The way it’s presented it’s a more general sense of loss that everyone can relate to I think (cheated or not lol)

Ahh, I see. So there’s a feeling of pressure coming from both sides, both from those doing the inviting and those doing the rejecting. I looked at it from a personal standpoint. Whenever I invite someone, it doesn’t take much emotional energy on my end, however I do feel guilty whenever I have to reject an invitation. :)

humans are social creatures. we define ourselves by the things we have in common with and the differences between us and other people. cutting off those important to us can feel like losing chunks of yourself, and make it difficult to define where the borders of "you" end relative to others. it's for different reasons, but for a long time i struggled with a sense of clear identity and was extremely isolated, so those aspects of the manga hit hard. it's a beautiful work.

As somebody who categorically refuses alcohol, is Whiskey+Cola supposed to be anything special? Like the sort of drink that knocks you out real good without tasting the alcohol (therefore implying our protagonist to be a high-functioning alcoholic)? Or is there nothing to read into?

would be delighted if this got a serialization, i'd like to see more about how Takada and Shindo's relationship evolves. particularly how Shindo's minimalism might clash with Takada's messiness at home.

I don’t think she was in love with her ex best friend, it’s noted in the one-shot that she loved her boyfriend. The bisexual may be due to the author and the note in which the one-shot ends (subtext maybe) With what we have for now, I personally don’t view it like that!

Nah it's not a special drink at all. Pretty much the most basic, lazy kind of "cocktail" one could make. I think the sentiment here is just the "wow this tastes just like at the restaurant" kinda thing, that makes it feel more impressive than it actually is

This one cut deep. The emotional gradient from the top to the bottom of page 373 is brutal, a kind of emotional cuckoldry that permanently changes people (as the story demonstrates). This reminds me of some of the messier middle parts of Hana ni Arashi dealing with Chidori's past with her senpai. Kovachi is really deft at balancing fluff and heaviness.

Its significance in the title is that it's one of the few things she carried forward from her previous life and it's something that she started liking because of Ayumu, just like she picked up her preference for black clothing while shopping with her ex. Which to me says that our identity being derived from our relationships and interpersonal entanglements is inescapable. People are not self-created, no matter how much they might want or need to believe so.

Why the bisexual tag ? I mean nothing happened to justify the tag

I really enjoyed Hana ni Arashi and I hope this author gets another serialization.

Maybe that will help a little about this story.

I think she just likes to keep her life easy: she separates work from life, to maintain her work professionalism. Though that rule was broken when she decided to become friends with Takada san.

And that bisexuality tag may just a hint that Takada san might be or may be someone other than just colleague in the future development

This reminds me of an ongoing series(?)-- that I forgot the title but it was a little similar to this: a girl who is talented and could sing so well betrayed by both her ex and her bestest friend. She then encountered a girl who said she was from the future. Together they decided to form a band and sing together..(?)

That makes sense too. It’s good that she was finally able to move on like you said, and it’s good that she’s befriending Takada now and they might even get together far in the future. It is definitely sad that she trusted them so much and they betrayed her trust so badly. It’d be nice if something happens with Takada in the future though so she can start trusting people more although she already has started trusting her. Also, that series you’re referencing is definitely great and I’ve been enjoying reading it.

This art feels much more like Kovachi's own rather than her husband's! I do love Hana ni Arashi, but you can really feel the Komi-san influence. Love that she's getting oneshots out there again
