Ya, happens all the time in the actual light novel too (this was the same there). A lot of the files don't have a proper closure/follow-up which can be jarring.

I wrote this manga off initially since i figured it would be like all the typical married person cheating scenario. Besides the art being gorgeous, this has really surprised me so far by how delicate and careful the situation is treated.

I still pray she divorces before (or right after) anything happens but i am 100% on board now. Can't wait for january!

I don't think the mutilation is extra - it's something that represents physical proof of their bond, that they're exclusive to each other, and probably why Mizuki can accept that Sayori won't tire of her even when they are apart, like what happened to the couple in their novel.

Was not expecting this to be a prequel. Guess that's why she was fine with the cheating.

the relationship between these two still seems platonic to me. only difference is that Takamine is opening up a little more, which is probably what Sakura wanted all along, nothing more nothing less.

The oneshot gives me hope.
