If you go back and reread volume 6, it's more than a little shift.

Comparing it to the light novel, it looks like they're removing the Templeborn arc. Interesting, this chapter pretty much covered the whole of volume 6.

The weirdest thing about the watch thing is that someone actually wears watches in this day and age, when everyone checks time on their phone. But alright, apparently Maya wears it all the time, since she got a watch tan... except we don't see it a single time in the course of this story, including an outing to the bar :P

I wear a watch too. It's just more convenient, especially when you're active.

It's definitely hinting at something. There was the washroom issue this chapter too.

It's a bit of stockholm's, but not completely. Stil need to see more past memories to decide what their relationship was.

All the characters were great, even the childhood friend. The yearning that everyone had....amazing.

The premise is so strange. She doesn't like the red string but it turns out it is not something you can fight against and now the manga is just a typical girl falling in love story.

I was expecting a dark twist that never came. Which is nice too.

I'm in the minority by saying this but, how Hikaru left Harutaka was portrayed somewhat realistically (at least for the US). People leave their partners abruptly for flings, first loves, etc. It sucks but it happens. Yes, Hkaru is trash and I feel awful for Harutaka but it definitely is a realistic portrayal of how marriages break up. (Source: my sibling did it 4 times much like Hikaru did).

Of course it happens. A lot of crazy things happen in real life. But this FAR from the norm and not what I would say is realistic.

This is just toxic, soap opera stuff.
