"Nyoooo my life needs a narrative arc that ends in passion and flamessss!!!!" go to therapy

go to therapy

Are you high? It's a well-known Japanese Fact™ that therapy is not an okay thing to engage in, or even acknowledge the existence of! We can't be having with such dangerous things. It invites you to examine your life, gain perspective, and sort out your feelings! Understanding your feelings is expressly forbidden in Japan!

They are supposed to stay vague, confusing sources of thought and drive! If you knew what those things were that made you doki doki in the kokoro, you might find some direction and purpose in your life, and that upsets the status quo!

What then, I ask you?!
WHAT THEN??

Oh thank you!
I don't recall knowing about Akane san.
Thank you!

I'm glad that Ai went to meet Kaeda and was able to see through her. If she didn't, I think it would have haunted her the rest of her life. I still wished she threw away the pendent though. If not her herself, then for Gon.

I could see that for Kaede's sake but keeping the pendant is a powerful decision as well. It shows how little meaning it has for AI now. Throwing it away could carry the feeling of AI needing to distance herself from something she can't resist.

It makes sense. I get that throwing it away would give it too much value. But If it has no meaning to her, keeping it doesn't make sense as well (might just be me, but I don't like to keep useless/meaningless stuff). She could sell it and buy something nice for Kon for example.

I was thinking the same
She decided to keep it instead
I.. I think I would have given the pendant back to Kaede san if I'm Ai san because I've reached a conclusion that Kon san is the person I would like to be with (if I'm Ai san).

As the pendant itself a symbol of becoming one to whoever that holds with another person, therefore I assume that, perhaps giving back to Kaede san could give her another chance to find her fateful one again (that's what I think of)

THIS could perfectly have been the final chapter, you know

I really love this author. I am not typically a fan of big drama, but I trust them to deliver plot beats that actually resonate with me rather than being silly & frustrating. This easily could have been something I hated, but this chapter was so good, so cathartic. Thanks for the ride, looking forward to the final chapter.

I was so afraid that Kaede would try to poison Ai... When I saw her pick up the pitcher, my heart sank.Right now I'm crying with relief and happiness.
Just one more chapter to go. Please, make it sweet and happy!

Guess she is gonna be stuck in the cycling of waiting forever

I like that Ai isn't quite over Kaede and never will be but she's just decided that Kon is more important to her than Kaede is while Kaede herself is equally not over Ai and never will be but she has no intent of choosing better. She'd rather just spend the rest of her life waiting to be proven right about a fate that Ai has consciously chosen to disgregard.

I feel bad for Ai she's never gonna be able to forget kaeda, She's always just gonna live rent free in her head for the rest of her life.

I actually for once feel bad for kaeda as well because she thinks Ai will eventually go back to her and I honestly don't see that ever happening Kon is precious and I don't think she will ever leave her.

Not a bad ending! Even if Ai thinks Kaede will always be in her head, I think one day she'll find that she's not. Though at the same time, I understand that the way she loves Kon is much quieter. In my head, that translates to "doesn't love as much". I know I may be wrong, though. I hope so!

I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting as a conclusion to Kaede's arc although it doesn't feel truly settled for me it is a fitting end to her character. She got in the end a taste of her own medicine even if it doesn't feel equal to everything she put Ai through. Ai and Kaede's relationship with each other now is very realistic given the toxic nature of their relationship that it only makes sense that there is this imprint left on the both of them, seeing how they went out those imprints highlighted how different they've grown since the beginning.

As far as I understand, for Kaede, to wait indefinitely and yearningly for an Ai that will never come, is the kind of human emotion she craved, so it works for her. What's important to her is not that Ai comes, but the process of waiting. Good for her. I guess.

i think kaede is, in a sense, "in love with love" as much as or more than she's obsessed with ai. she loves the ai that exists in her head and memories (and delusions) more than she loves ai the living breathing person. which is why she wasn't interested in most of what ai had to say, or any of the feelings she had that weren't what kaede wanted to hear.

at first it felt a bit anticlimactic, but in that sense it's realistic and i appreciate it. her voice still lingers in ai's head, and it'll be a long time before ai is free of her, but she's working toward that future. building a life together with kon, treasuring her, making new memories together. she'll have to reject kaede inside her head plenty more times, but her new life with kon is giving her the courage to do that. if kaede/ai were two unhealthy people needing to satisfy their thirst and sense of lacking on each other, then ai/kon are partners by their own choice and freedom. they want to be in each other's lives, so they work toward that and prioritize it. it's a nice contrast tbh.

It's not love, for Ai. It's like a trauma, something that impacted you so much that it lingers in some little corner of your brain, it doesn't induce good feelings for Ai, it doesn't induce love anymore, if it ever was because seems to me it was more like an illusion and dependency. It simply is there like a scar or an old injury that appears when it's cold or you accidentally pull it, it doesn't come with positive and romantic echos, it's just something you remember. I would say that her love for Kon is actually the loudest, it is so important for her that she is happy to hear all the things Kon wants to say to her, the good and the bad, as long as it allows them to keep moving forward. When you are constantly choosing something, it takes a bigger space of your brain and body, sorta like willingly eating healthy, doing therapy, etc.

Anyways I really liked the ending, I loveeeeeeeeeee the constrast between Ai and Kaede, two people who clearly had some issues and the final choice they made (at this point in their lives) about each other and their own lives. I adore Kon, she is such a wonderful person and partner... Ai found the best person to fall in love with after all she went through. Lucky girl.

Thank you to the translators, I enjoyed it a lot.

I think this ending suits perfectly to the series. Ai and Kon finally got the happiness they deserved, after suffering and going for.through so much. I hope that in the future, Ai will be able to silence her “curse” once and for all, thanks to Kon’s support and love (and probably therapy).
Kaede is a character who gives me mixed feelings. On the one hand, she’s responsible for what happened and has caused Ai serious harm through their toxic relationship. But on the other hand, she clearly suffers from a mental disorder and urgently needs specialized help.
I loved this wild ride. Thank you very much for translating it!

Agree with all of this. Indeed, there is no love there for Ai but a scar fades without ever fully disappearing. That's a very mature conclusion and her being able to calmly accept the scar (even mock it) shows her power over the memories and how little they affect her anymore. I really loved the ending to this. Very confident in Kon and Ai's relationship given what they went through. A really strong ending for Ai.

I did not say anything about Ai still loving Kaede, so not sure where that's coming from unless I'm misunderstanding. I'm saying that Ai will get past this even if she doesn't think so. You are also saying this.

I think if I read the whole story from beginning to end, rather than bit by bit over time, I'd feel stronger about Kon and Ai. Kind of like Kon, I can't shake the suspicion that there's an element of "settling" there. But that's where I'm hoping I am wrong. Regardless, still obviously a healthier relationship than the one with Kaede and still a good ending.
