This is unrelated to the discussion on the last few chapters, but the mangaka posted one of the scanlated pages on their Twitter lmao
(specifically chapter 32 page 18)

I… saw this, thought it was funny, kept reading, and now I’m caught up…
Those last three chapters definitely took a turn. I am… disturbed. Excellently done.

I meant to post this right after posting the last hypnosis chapter, but if you're not aware sugar. is really into horror, paranormal, and the occult.

I am very intrigued.

"Axe is coming so fuck it timeskip to Airi and Nagi living together and Airi is suffering from depression fuck you"
Amazing play author I'm excited to see the finale.

It was really fun while it lasted, but it seems we're deep in shark-jumping territory now.

When Sugar faked(?) us out with pretending (?) the series ended/got axed, I was for real ready to riot. Right after the time skip (and then skip back), too! I like how the story is naturally revealing/teasing so much more about the characters with the setting of the time skip.
Airi and Nagi living together.
Nagi pursuing music, and even working with KonKon.
Fumi still being a lovable(?) hypocrite.
Iori achieving her dream.
Awesome stuff. Love this series.

genuinely now that we're so close to the end and with the axe into timeskip I'll say this has been a surprisingly good series. I've liked it from the start because hey it was pretty good but it got really really good after a while. Sugar has a very good sense of how to use the manga structure to their advantage.

Incredible way to deal with an axed time skip, sugar can't keep getting away with this

Sad about the axe, I didn't think it was unpopular enough for one. But it's been a really nice run so far, and I'm sure the ending will be good despite the axe, so I'm looking forward to the finale.

Wow what a let down this got axed it was such a fun slow burn series... Really disappointed we wont get to see their relationship actually develop properly, especially with the way the last chapter ended and Nagi not happy with herself.

Time skips where nothing is actually explained is the worst.

Huge shame

I wasn't sure if it was just a gag or a real time jump, but I'm oddly invested in this future timeline.

it's a damn shame that the series got axed, if it did. seems like there was going to be one more arc in high school before this timeskip, but they had to immediately jump ahead to the uni stuff.
My current guess with what happened before the timeskip is that Airi feels like her conversational skills that she was using were becoming less and less useful, like she felt more like a fish out of water and regressed perhaps. It doesn't seem like she quit uni or her jobs because she was underqualified or got pushed out; it seems more like she hated how isolated she got and it sorta spiraled from there. Thinking about how in the beginning of the series, she was thrown off guard by the otaku-kun she tried chatting up, but was able to acclimate with talking to other folks like Fumi. I wonder if as the years went by through her jobs, she ran into the same sort of problem, but instead of otaku genre mismatch, it was just like a realization that she wasn't necessarily "normal", so to speak. Her social battery life is pretty low and needs recharging, so what if she thought it all to be too much later on in life? just a theory.

Genuinely can't tell if this got axxed for real, like the last few chapters have been so experimental that can either mean that 1. This is a similarly experimental arc, with the meta framing of it being an unexpected ax or 2. Its actually axxed, and the chapters have been experimental tatle bc sugar has nothing to lose like. They both make sense to me LMAO
but man i actually really enjoy this future, so im hoping for the next chapter. Airi becoming legitimately depressed, losing all interest in any hobbies, obviously not knowing what to do with herself, isolating... its actually heartbreaking how relatable that is? I don't know how this arc will end. With sugar, I wouldn't even be surprised if nothing is fixed, and Airi continues pushing people away. I hope not! But like I truly dont know where we're going from here.
Well. At least the yuri's canon!

i'd be VERY surprised if the ax was faked, I wonder if it was the author knowing how many volumes they were going to get and intentionally paced the story to have a more dramatic ending with the timeskip, avoiding the typical "and they live together and kiss a lot and nothing bad happens" in favor of something off the beaten path.

the isolation after uni and getting depressed and losing interest in hobbies part is too damn relatable tbh. and especially the part where she's only really talking to folks from high school still..... I know the diegetic reason is to not introduce new characters at the end but still. It's like reading a story with parts of my own life as the ink.
