The idea of social degeneration predates national socialism by a good two centuries. Nazi Germany used the term "entartet" (better translated as "out of kind"); the German equivalent "degeneriert" did in fact see a sharp decline in usage coinciding with the rise of the NSDAP.
If anything, "degenerate" it's a French fascist term, having plateaued from decline under the Pétainists thanks to re-popularization by Alexis Carrel.
Should you want to be insufferable about dictating prescriptive vocabulary use, at least get your facts right. I'd also like to introduce some of you to the concept or reclamation (though dubiously assuming the word has already been de-appropriated in this case), but persistent failure to acknowledge that semantics are not semiotics and context therefore is a thing makes for a grim outlook.
But anyway I should stop ranting before I start hitting online wannabe-philologist with Klemperer's LTI.
