Oh no, Kyouko is a terf.
It hits uncomfortably close to home, but I wouldn't interpret her as transmisic yet. Currently, Yuuri is not in a female body on purpose, and still has the option of regaining their old body. It's up in the air as to whether Yuuri is actually a girl or just a temporarily embarrassed boy, so until they come down one way or another it's fair for Kyouko to draw the same boundaries she would with a cis boy. If Yuuri were to affirm a desire to keep living as a girl and Kyouko still rejects them, then I'd interpret Kyouko as a bigot.
I wonder if it's going to end up with something like Kyouko falling in love with Yuuri, because he's a boy in a girl's body. It's a perfect solution for a hetosexual girl with a severe case of androphobia.
I think that might piss a lot of people off, but not me. I'm actually intrigued by the idea. I would like to see more manga play around with biological sex and gender identity. Characters like Yamato from One Piece fascinate me.Are you really sure about that?
Alright then, let's make a bet. If it turns out to be yuri, I win. If it turns out to be heterosexual, you win.
It'll be interesting to see which one of us ends up being right, hehe.
I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying. It's simple Kyouko falls in love with yuuri, because he is a guy in a non-guy package. Yuuri remains in a girl's body, to not frighten Kyouko. Yuuri and Kyouko will live happy ever after. It is totally a yuri ending. Well from a certain point of veiw.
Nah, there are a lot of things you're wrong about, but I'm not going to argue with you over them. I could easily prove my point, but it's more fun to turn it into a bet instead, hehe.
Okay how wrong can I be? I can only see three likely endings
Yuuri uses his girl form to cure Kyouko of her androphobia then turns back into a boy. Kyouko falls in love with him. Hetero happy ending.
Yuuri starts to identify as a girl. Kyouko falls in love with her. A happy yuri ending.
Yuuri stays a girl but never stops identifying as a boy. Kyouko falls in love with them. Happy yuri ending, from a certain point of view.
Now I know there can be tons of other endings. Like Yuuri starts identifying as a girl. Becomes best gal pals with Kyouko, and then falls in love when she discovers boys. But it's almost certainly one of the three. You want to bet them my money is spread evenly between possibility 2 and 3, based on the things I read in the comments.
As much as I and I assume many other readers would love to see it, a scene where Yuuri just turns to the camera and says "I am transgender and want to be a girl." is never going to happen in a somewhat light-hearted manga like this, but the same goes for option 3. Much like with many of the other gender bender manga out there, the mc's gender is probably just going to be left vague and up to the reader's interpretation. Automatically flocking to the interpretation that it's "het in a non-het package" because of it is insulting to the original work and other interpretations. This might just be my opinion as a trans woman, but no living cis guy would ever choose to remain in a wrong-gendered body just for a crush. If Yuuri does ultimately choose to stay as a girl, a queer reading is unavoidable.
This is why if Fabiniku was gay it would have been a true masterpiece because it has a scene that does exactly this despite being a lighthearted mostly comedy manga with a GB premise.

I agree that Yuuri's gender identity will probably be left vague. I kind of placed that possibility under ending number 2, because that's how I would interprate it.
Although Yuuri is bringing his gender identity to the forefront by having guilt over lying to Kyouko about being a girl, even though he is in a girl's body. It shows he still idinifies as a boy.I kind of want Kyouko to start to push Yuuri into identifying as a girl so she can remain friends with him
I think your wrong about no cis man would give up identifying as a man, for a woman. I'm a cis man, but I have no loyalty to my gender. The way I feel is I'm a man only because I was born male, if I magically woke up in a female body tomorrow I would just try to learn to be a woman. I'm sure it would suck for a while but I think I would eventually get use to it And if a woman I loved was rooting for me to be a woman. I think it might end up being an incentive to push me along.

You know, I'm really glad Kyouko turned her (him ?) down and walked away. She outright said she can't stand being around men, then Yuuri comes out and says "I'm a man". Any other reaction would have been disrespectful.
- Actually, Kyouko doesn't know what she's talking about when she speaks of herself and can be fine around men.
- She's scared of men, but Yuuri is "special" so Kyouko's boundaries don't count.
- She cares about what Yuuri looks like, not how Yuuri identifies.
None of those would have been an acceptable outcome.

Note that the word "terf" implies the subject is at least a self-proclaimed feminist (shrug)
I have a friend who suffers from a severe case of androphobia, as well as phallophobia. She can't control it, and it bothers me that people automatically label those kinds of women as bigots.
I’m really gonna need that traumatic backstory for why she hates men so much because this is getting ridiculous

It's already been explained: she got molested on a train while catching the perp who also molested her friend red-handed.

I understand both sentiments, especially since in Kyouko's case, it's very hard for me to tell where phobia ends and bigotry begins.

I'm glad that this confession was done early, I was afraid the tension of Yuuri's secret was going to be dragged out. Phew. I'm really interested to see how this develops, Yuuri as a character has Kyouko's genuine well-being at the forefront. His wish at the start was to be her friend, rather than some wish about changing what Kyouko thought of him. So as long the story keeps approaching their relationship, and Kyouko's trauma, from that viewpoint then I think this is going to be a satisfying read.
I'm still hung up on the wording of how to "undo" the wish... since again his original wish is to befriend her... we'll just have to see.... PleaseBeAGirl

I don't know if it'll go this way (it probably won't), but the managa has set up a fairly natural way to functionally do just that. Specifically, it could have Kyouko get used to Yuuri over the course of the series and, as the deadline approaches, tell them she'd be OK with them returning to their original form, only for Yuuri to decide to keep her female form because that's the form she prefers.

I kind of understood what he mean after (I am someone who has a hard time understanding without comparisons) I compared it with life and the thoughts that many have about death. They live because they are alive, they have no desire to kill themselves, but if they were to die tomorrow they would not care.

Babe become a woman, or at the very least get nonbinary about it. I’ve literally never met someone who wrote words like the ones you did here or didn’t later transition. Men like being men, they think its cool and good.

And Kyouko is at least consistent and makes no exceptions. Terfs and fellow travelers might have grievances against certain men, but they will are happy to ally with "good" men in the war on trans people and specifically trans women.

Your hypothetical isn't unassailable, even if it's impossible to test directly, because trans people do exist. We know of a cluster of sensations and emotions that are alleviated when trans people transition, which is commonly summarized as gender dysphoria, and gender euphoria, a related "opposite" cluster that is brought about by transition. And the evidence is at this point overwhelming, that no incentive or benefit (financial, romantic, etc.) can compare to these. Which contradicts you saying that, as a cis man, having to live as a woman would be a mere inconvenience for you that you'd just power through for the right reward.
Maybe the real stakes of gender (as identity, as embodiment, as a social experience) make you uncomfortable as a cis person and you don't want to think about them seriously. But if it's not that, then assuming that you're not an outlier example of a cis person, the gender identity of cis people in general is so malleable as to destabilize the notion of cisness as anything more than a social construct.
And if you believe that gender identity has such low stakes, I don't understand why you would talk about Yuuri as "a boy in a girl package". Following your logic to its conclusion, if Yuuri can just "get used to" living as a girl to be around Kyouko, if being torn away from her past life as a boy takes no toll on her mental health, then any internal male identification that might remain ceases to affect reality. At that point, Yuuri is just a girl, with memories of a life lived as a boy and some associated habits, traumas, reflexes etc. that she can start to heal from.

Men like being men, they think its cool and good.
Sweeping generalizations are unhealthy, regardless of the context. There are men who think it is "cool" and "good," and punch themselves in the face and get piss-drunk until they pass out in a dumpster next to a Chilis. Allegedly. There are also men who see being a man as simply a mundane fact of their lives with no qualification attached to it.

What we actually know is that some people feel dysphoria, and euphoria on transition. That does not mean that every non-trans person would feel dysphoria if they magically transitioned. Genderfluidity exists, and what some dub "gendercasual".
Quite a bunch of people think that they wouldn't care much if they woke up as the opposite sex, without feeling any urge to actually explore it in reality. Whether they're correct or not is untestable, since we can't do scenarios like the manga's.
So if there's passive suicidal ideation, is this passive trans ideation???
It’s different because passive suicidal ideation it’s when you want to kill yourselve but have 0 intention of acting those thoughts. What I mean was people that live their life because they are here, but if they were to die, that it’s how life is. Something like that, I think that it’s what he mean.

That's depression, my dude.

I don’t know, I know people without and with depression who think like this. It could also be a cultural difference, a lot of us don’t believe in a future (as in, “working” for a future basically) so some don’t see death as loss, it’s not something scary, it’s a acceptable possibility, my life exist in this instant and the future is one minute away, I am working in my present which is my “future”
It's not that the person doesn’t have ambitions or don’t have attachments, it's that the value of one life is right now and losing it tomorrow wouldn't take anything away from it. I am sorry I don’t know how to explain it well ww. Too OffTopic so I will leave it at that.

And the evidence is at this point overwhelming, that no incentive or benefit (financial, romantic, etc.) can compare to these. Which contradicts you saying that, as a cis man, having to live as a woman would be a mere inconvenience for you that you'd just power through for the right reward.
Gender casual. I like the sound of that.

From Dan Shive, author of the webcomic "El Goonish Shive", whose stated gender is "non-committal shrug". AMAB, likes using female avatars, still has he/they pronouns, has a couple of male main characters who spend a lot of time as girls thanks to transformation magic but still identify as male more than not. 'genderfluid' could apply to them, one more so than the other.

Elliot of El Goonish Shive is such a great success.
Edit: Aaaand I'm a few minutes late thanks to internet issues. Well, rainbow8 gave a more robust response than I did, so props for that.

I'm not sure what a webcomic has to do with the manga we're discussing. Also, I don't see Yuuri as genderfluid, based on the many clues we've been given in the previous chapters. Besides, we'll have to wait for more chapters to see how the story develops. -_-

I was giving the source of the term 'gender casual', after someone admired it.
