I wonder if it's going to end up with something like Kyouko falling in love with Yuuri, because he's a boy in a girl's body. It's a perfect solution for a hetosexual girl with a severe case of androphobia.
I think that might piss a lot of people off, but not me. I'm actually intrigued by the idea. I would like to see more manga play around with biological sex and gender identity. Characters like Yamato from One Piece fascinate me.

Are you really sure about that?

Alright then, let's make a bet. If it turns out to be yuri, I win. If it turns out to be heterosexual, you win.

It'll be interesting to see which one of us ends up being right, hehe.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying. It's simple Kyouko falls in love with yuuri, because he is a guy in a non-guy package. Yuuri remains in a girl's body, to not frighten Kyouko. Yuuri and Kyouko will live happy ever after. It is totally a yuri ending. Well from a certain point of veiw.

Nah, there are a lot of things you're wrong about, but I'm not going to argue with you over them. I could easily prove my point, but it's more fun to turn it into a bet instead, hehe.

Okay how wrong can I be? I can only see three likely endings

  1. Yuuri uses his girl form to cure Kyouko of her androphobia then turns back into a boy. Kyouko falls in love with him. Hetero happy ending.

  2. Yuuri starts to identify as a girl. Kyouko falls in love with her. A happy yuri ending.

  3. Yuuri stays a girl but never stops identifying as a boy. Kyouko falls in love with them. Happy yuri ending, from a certain point of view.

Now I know there can be tons of other endings. Like Yuuri starts identifying as a girl. Becomes best gal pals with Kyouko, and then falls in love when she discovers boys. But it's almost certainly one of the three. You want to bet them my money is spread evenly between possibility 2 and 3, based on the things I read in the comments.

As much as I and I assume many other readers would love to see it, a scene where Yuuri just turns to the camera and says "I am transgender and want to be a girl." is never going to happen in a somewhat light-hearted manga like this, but the same goes for option 3. Much like with many of the other gender bender manga out there, the mc's gender is probably just going to be left vague and up to the reader's interpretation. Automatically flocking to the interpretation that it's "het in a non-het package" because of it is insulting to the original work and other interpretations. This might just be my opinion as a trans woman, but no living cis guy would ever choose to remain in a wrong-gendered body just for a crush. If Yuuri does ultimately choose to stay as a girl, a queer reading is unavoidable.

I agree that Yuuri's gender identity will probably be left vague. I kind of placed that possibility under ending number 2, because that's how I would interprate it.
Although Yuuri is bringing his gender identity to the forefront by having guilt over lying to Kyouko about being a girl, even though he is in a girl's body. It shows he still idinifies as a boy.I kind of want Kyouko to start to push Yuuri into identifying as a girl so she can remain friends with him
I think your wrong about no cis man would give up identifying as a man, for a woman. I'm a cis man, but I have no loyalty to my gender. The way I feel is I'm a man only because I was born male, if I magically woke up in a female body tomorrow I would just try to learn to be a woman. I'm sure it would suck for a while but I think I would eventually get use to it And if a woman I loved was rooting for me to be a woman. I think it might end up being an incentive to push me along.

Babe become a woman, or at the very least get nonbinary about it. I’ve literally never met someone who wrote words like the ones you did here or didn’t later transition. Men like being men, they think its cool and good.
