I particularly like how for the entire rest of the chapter Honoka is drawn in that "casual" round-faced style, but for the one frame she gets her Kaoruchad on it switches to the refined "high definition" mode.

100% my exact thought. Difference being I actually like Honoka way more. The fact that she can go from sarcastic deadpan otaku to Kaoru in zero seconds flat makes gives her way more depth (and likeability, imo).

Honoka is starting to remind me of Kanae a little in the way that love is making her a more likeable person over time.

around chapter 300 these two will probably roleplay a full BL bedroom scene "for research" and say no homo afterwards
