Honestly, with AI being where it is right now, the "can robots have feelings" debate is actually pretty important to be having. I mean, people are already in the present day getting deeply emotionally attached to chatbots. Personally, if I started having romantic feelings for a robot it would prompt a deep existential crisis...

Nadeshiko and similar androids have been in fiction forever but we're not really any closer to them being real. The current crop of "AI" isn't remotely like a thinking feeling consciousness, it's all just a bunch of glorified filters, and it takes up way more space than a human body does. State of the art is basically 1% of the thinking and 10,000% of the size, lol. I would be genuinely very surprised if a Nadeshiko could be made within my lifetime. So I don't think the silly sex comedy manga is actually relevant to today's issues lol

Yep, another childhood friend is used to make the main girls grow together. Poor Jun.

Even with this likely not ending in poly I still think Jun at least deserves a weekly consolation threesome, at minimum lol

Yup that ending quote cinched it for me Jun is about to be shot down. And she’ll smile and say it’s fine like every single other one of these bait characters that have existed forever. All that threesome baiting was just bait in the end. Disappointing to say the least.

I could see Nadeshiko picking up on that implication and intervening on Jun's behalf, wanting her to get to be happy as well with all three of them. Her saying she doesn't want to share earlier has basically been her most human moment so far, and evolving on that and demonstrating clearly that she values someone isn't her mother or owner would actually be a really good conclusion to her arc as a character.

I agree with you that today's AI are still shitty. However, unfortunately, there's a very real trend of some people using AI chat bots to replace human contact or even using them to fulfill a boyfriend or a girlfriend function. "Replika" is one AI app that multiple people -- if you can trust the internet -- have reported "falling in love" with. While that doesn't necessarily say much about the quality of the AI, I think it speaks to the human capacity for developing connections with non-humans.

There's also the curious problem of AI bots making up stuff when they don't know the answer to something. There have been hilarious examples, like one lawyer who asked an AI bot to find authoritative precedents to reinforce his position in a certain legal case -- and then discovered that everything the AI found for him was fake information and complete bullshit only after he presented it in court.

Also the legally binding Air Canada refund policy that a bot made up.

Jun isn't the typical "childhood friend loses", Jun is much younger than Akane, basically a little sister from another mother

Bait? Jun never appeared like a true option, Akane never saw her that way, she just didn't have the guts to turn her down definitively

Her being younger is irrelevant to what the other person said, they’re right, she’s a childhood friend character who was used to make the main girls grow closer.

She is the typical “childhood friend loses” cuz she lost. Her being younger is part of the reason she lost, yes, but she still lost.

So are you saying she should offer a poly relationship cuz that’s a horrible idea.

Neither of them are interested in Jun, so it’d freaking suck if they had her join outta pity.
Nadeshiko literally can’t do anything to make Jun happy cuz she doesn’t love her.
Jun’s happy ending will be one where she moves on from Akane or finds another girl.

Akane just needs to turn Jun down, no sugar coating, just be direct, so Jun can mourn over the rejection and move on, knowing that there’s no chance for her feelings to be reciprocated.

Nadeshiko said she didn’t wanna share, her going against that would be wild and would basically make her character development pointless. The whole point of her not wanting to share was because the “selfishness” was a human quality, no human, would agree to share their lover with another person to “show that they care for them”

Poly route isn’t gonna happen and if it does, then i doubt it’ll go well for them and if it does, it’ll feel unnatural since neither nadeshiko nor Akane have shown interest in jun, and Jun hasn’t shown interest in nadeshiko.

Then you haven't been keeping up with the current and next 5 years of Al development. AGI might have already happened IRL.. wait till AI starts iterating itself. ASI isn't far off. Combine that with how robotics is developing and Nadeshiko...and or t-800 terminator s aren't too far away...

It's not such a curious mystery though. An AI's function is to answer our questions. We get it to answer questions by cobbling together information all the time, AI doesn't think, and so doesn't understand why cobbling together a bunch of information to make up something that sounds like it really happened is the wrong thing. The idea of "not knowing" something is kind of unfathomable to an AI, because as far as the AI is concerned, it has all of the answers to everything we could possibly ask within the database.

I’m against the poly ending.
Goes against Nadeshiko’s character arc and development.
“I wAnNA sEe THeM ALl hAPpY” bff Jun is the love rival,NOT the love interest.
The love interest typically wins over the love rival.
The main ship is clearly Akane/Nadeshiko. Jun is just there for plot purposes.

There won't be any poly ending. I dunno where that idea comes from.

It's been showed time and again that Akane and Nadeshiko want each other and neither of them wants Jun. There's only one way to end such a story: Akane and Nadeshiko get one another, and Jun moves on.
