The difference between being gay and being incestuous is that someone who loves their sibling can actually just love someone else. A gay person doesn't have a choice.
Although that does call to question what the absolute ethical judgment on bisexual people is but for the sake of brevity people should be allowed to exist as they are
That said, a lot of people are uncomfortable with incest for very good reasons (CSA among them). While I personally don't see love between siblings (in the very rare case it's reciprocal and stuff) as a moral failure, it's fair to let people be squicked.
Edit: the het siblings show up a few more times later but they barely have any screentime once the empire arc starts. And it makes sense that there's incest since a main component of the story is forbidden love. I'm just thankful Inori has the sense not to put in pedophile apologia - people can enjoy whatever in their goofy porn as long as it's goofy and they keep it away from me, but trying to seriously justify it as a main literary theme is ???
