I try not to think too hard about the implication of "you saved me" because it's probably something along the lines of "you were in a videogame I liked when my life was miserable", and that just strikes me as stupid, but I guess this sort of thing comes with the genre. I can't seem to be able to fully ignore it though :P

The interesting part is upon us.

I loved the LN so much, it kept surprising me with how good it would get. I can't wait to hang out on the forum as people experience it for the first time.

If you finished the novel, you'd feel indifferent reading this chapter. Knowing what's going to happen next and how precious they are. Rei is such a sweetheart, I still don't get people who hates her because of her demeanor. She's willing to set aside her feelings for Claire so whatever do people mean that she's pushy clearly doesn't see her kindness.

It's mostly because of her habit of intentionaly playing to the japanese stereotype of the lustful lesbian as a way to cope with her psychological problems. We still haven't got to the conversation with Claire that kickstarts her character development.

Boy, you're going to love the later story arcs with that attitude.

Also, a bit late to the party but in regards to types of revolutions As much as I enjoy this series I'll definitely say that the politics behind most of these things are pretty sketchy, Inori sensei seems to have a pretty (standard) myopic vision of politics that basically starts and ends with the modern japanese state. I'm still waiting for some solid anti-capitalist yuri, I know it's out there somewhere.

Inori-sensei is just one of many romance writers who try to spice their romance with political machinations without understanding how different kinds of power arrangements and long-standing structures work. Then again, I cannot imagine that the Japanese publishing industry is too keen on biting the hand the feeds it by publishing actual anti-capitalist content. Limitations of the medium, I guess.

EDIT: About a year ago, there was a guy named Kirin around here who also loved this topic... I bet he could've written a novel on this thing alone. :D Sadly, he hasn't posted anything since January, and I wonder what happened to him...

I do not think it is stupid to latch on a person, even a fictional one, as a beacon of hope when you are on the edge of just giving up on life. Whatever helps you get away from that edge and starting to feel alive again is fine by me. I personally have never experienced such attachment to a character, but I imagine that if I did and then got to meet them in person, I'd feel pretty much the same way as Rei.

Get well soon translator!

Oh this is getting interesting, we got a commoner's movement now so I wonder what they will try to do to lady Claire. Though if they do anything Rei will come rip them apart which will be fun to watch.

Like Claire's reactions are not good enough reason to tease her!

That's not the part that feels stupid to me, it's just... you usually don't get to meet fictional characters. But I get it, it's the whole point of the story, feels dumb to complain about such an integral element. It's just that this part reminded me strongly about it.

To be fair if I was whisked into a video game world that I knew like the back of my hand I’d probably latch onto a character for the exact same reason lol

Japanese media is the only media I've seen that consistently does these "commoners vs burgeois" thrope with the commonors being the ones in the wrong.

Probably only being rivaled by the korean media in that regard.

I don't understand your point? What does getting to meet someone matters here? I know people who feels that they were saved by their idols, and the chances of them meeting said idols is 0%.

Awww this was one of my favorite chapters in the light novel! I’m so glad to see it finally illustrated! And now I can’t wait for the plot arcs to finally pick up!

Just in case there are some who are unaware, if you've already read the LN then you should definitely read the spinoff, "She's so Cheeky for a Commoner". It's a retelling of the story from Claire's pov and it covers a lot of missing plot points and conversations that we didn't get to see during the main story. It's excellent and definitely worth checking out if you're a fan.

Even from a Marxist POV, FWIW, it would be pre-mature to be anti-capitalist. It's a "feudal" aristocratic state for which capitalism would be an improvement. (Marx waxed quite eloquent on the benefits of capitalism vis a vis the ancien regime!) You overthrow your nobles and go capitalist, later you go socialist from "advanced capitalism".

Lenin's innovation was to try to go socialist from an agrarian state. It didn't work that great.

Japanese otaku media tends to be kind of annoyingly enthusiastic about "no one's ever truly evil" yes, but in this case it's mostly being self-aware of the trappings of the genre. Also the commoners aren't portrayed as wrong here, although the resolution is definitely more inspired by Glorious Revolution ideals than by the French Revolution - which to be fair sucked ass and was heavily mercantilist
