You think Kotaki is a monster hunter of some kind, or did she just know the real Takahashi before she died

My mind also went to monster hunter, but I also wouldn't be suprised if she were also a monster. Perhaps even a monster hunting monster, Alucard style. That could be the igniting spark to the carnage that will ensue.

(Also in a VN, Kotaki would prolly be the "Good Ending" route for Itou, where they become genuine friends and mayhaps even lovers and she learns that she never needed Takahashi in the first place. Then her grandma sweeps in to deliver a bare-knuckles beatdown of the monsters, happy end.)

Kind of one of the most interesting manga Ive ever read on here. It's constantly balancing our sympathies for the monsters not quite letting them murder (or rape...) anyone innocent for real on page... And this whole exploration of human social concepts like 'normality' vs. Actual monsters hidden among us... I guess it could be pushed a lot further - exclusion, bullying, but it's fresh in a way that its analogues are not elaborated or complicated. Wonder where the hell the story is going

I agree they need to find another creepo for glasses girl to hate-kiss so it's more reasonable. The author has increased her power-level too much to kill her at this point so might as well give her the Vegeta treatment.

I find it interesting how inhuman Itou's eyes look in this panel, very much giving the feeling of her once again being the "true" monster for not understanding social norms around what she should and shouldn't say

i think she’s more referring to the nutrients contained within her body being incorporated into body than the skin suit.

Someone's suddenly uncomfortable with being reminded that she's planning to eat our main character. She's getting attached.

This adds so much to Niehara's character, especially as it relates to their gender presentation and the roles they take on. The first time they became human, they took on a very visibly feminine form. But the man who found them abused them because he recognized that them not being what most people would see as a human woman made them acutely vulnerable—they didn't have recourse to escape. Now, in the present, they present fem only when interacting with Itou, who they want to be close to, but take on the form of a man (and a man in a position of power—a teacher) to exert authority over others. It doesn't seem like a form they prefer, just one that they feel they need to be safe after being the victim of violence for such a long time. AND the whole thing about not being able to let anyone know their real past, having to make things up for their own safety and to be accepted, etc...
There is SO much to discuss regarding a transfem reading of Niehara.

The fact that Itou was getting all blushy when girl Niehara was getting close and then immediately went "just what's so good about him" after he transforms is so funny.

and what a twist at the end, Hiraizumi is about to get eaten or maybe even replaced. And then the new Hiraizumi will get to be with her weird girl all day. yipee!
