Almost forgot, “The novel”? I actually thought it was just a doujinshi all along, considering that there were so few pages for each so-called “chapter”, so was there a novel to provide more context before? Or is that a new thing? Not often when we get to see a novel appear after the comic, that’s for sure.

The novel is releasing day and date alongside the web manga. Since the manga adapts the novel part, the novel does go into more detail (although I dunno if there's any translations that aren't mtl/ai slop yet).

Hm. Not even sure I'd consider this chapter an improvement. But nice to see the series getting a serialization nonetheless.

Haha, I don't remember exactly the feeling evoked in the original, but here you get so clearly the reversal of who is the dominant one in this relationship. Can't wait to see it again.

Wakana has always been the real queen. She just loves Ruruna too much to break her delusions.

Judging by this first chapter I expect this series twist to be all the girls shes biting just always had a crush on her and their just pretending to be mindslaves to get closer to her because vampire mind control isnt real

Honestly it seemed like that was the subtext of the original series, though Yura's motivation might be more like "ok fine, if I want to get with Wakana I guess I have to deal with this abject weirdo she spends all her time around"

If I was a betting woman I would not bet on an "all the dubiously consensual stuff was actually 100% consensual the whole time" reveal in something written by Mikami Teren. Even calling it a twist would be generous, given that any sort of mind manipulation is exceedingly rare in yuri manga, even including the vampire stuff.

Not that the narrative relies all that much on the mind control to provide tension anyway. "It's hot, don't worry about it" is the motto, even more so than with Mikami Teren's other works.

In the pre-serialization, Ruruna-sama so far got three girls (or two girls and a woman) under her control. I hope that's harem-y enough for you.

The original version has three girls. The one you see here is super into our MC vampire girlie here. The second girl that gets bit is the classmate and childhood friend of our first victim(?). Second girl loves first girl. (Or at least cares for her way more than MC).

The third victim happens to be a teacher who, to put it lightly, would probably “love” anyone who hangs out with her and lets her in on fun stuff.

I’m sure the novel goes into more detail, but from what I’ve read, it’s more MC x First Victim right now, couple-wise.
