Yori and Himari have so much fun just being around each other. I just want to see them on a perma date, enjoying themselves and being lovey-dovey. I need nothing else ^_^

finally got around to read the last few chapters and OMG it´s as bad as i thought, god damn takeshima eku. Like don´t get me wrong im not one to shy away from some wincest but god damn why even bother with an incest plot if you´re gonna shy away and dance around it the whole arc. Worst of all she did my girl aya dirty, like what´s with that cuck shit about dating someone clearly in love with someone else, her sister nonetheless

I dunno, almost every incest story either a) magically works out, or b) ends in tragedy, it'd be kind of nice to see "person struggles with difficult feelings and finds a way to move on" for once.

And dating someone that is in love with someone else isn't "cuck shit," Miki's proactively trying to move on from a relationship she can't have, (for a lot of reasons,) and Aya is swooping in with the intent to save her from that. this happens all the time in yuri and in real life. It's often what happens to secondary characters when they can't get the character of their affection. Hell, it basically happened with Aki. She was still in love with Yori, but she knows that isn't going to happen so she's trying to move on with somebody else and honestly it seems like it's going pretty well.

People who read romance stories get way too bogged down in "they met by fate on a windswept day when they bumped into each other on the street and fell in love at first sight" but a lot of real relationships are "Well, I had a crush on some guy whose name I can't remember, who didn't even know who I was, and she came after me anyway and I thought she seemed fun and interesting. We've been married for 43 years."

My Unrequited Love was mostly struggle, with a magic work-out at the very very end, IIRC. Though, oh right, that wasn't actually incest, just age gap and incest-adjacent (falling for her sister-in-law.)

Anyway, good point. Even if Miki being that into Aki isn't particularly likely... given the earlier "feelings, what are they" themes of Whispering, I was expecting something like "Miki didn't actually know what romantic feelings felt like, and thought her attachment to her sister was romantic".

honestly i´d rather have miki magically develop true feelings for aya and forget her previous love the same way aki did for shiho over whathever the hell jus happened, and yes a lot of people irl
date people that haven´t got over a previous love and usually ends pretty bad for the person waiting

Have I told you how much I fucking love this manga? There was no chapter last month, but there was one this month and I read ahead (I'll keep things spoilered until the English translation comes out)

Finally, the fated day Himari meets Yori's parents. Unfortunately, neither of them are as perceptive as Himari's mom, and don't figure out, or even ask if they're actually going out until Himari's about to leave and Yori has to tell it to them straight (poor choice of word here but whatever). Yori basically tells Himari her parents are both idiots (ok I've seen the tentative translation and they've actually used "doting parents" rather than outright "idiots" so I'll go with that), but ultimately not scary or bad people. Of course, one possible mitigating factor is that Yori probably didn't gush about her girlfriend to her parents like Himari did (it doesn't help that both Yori and her dad seem slightly cold and distant in personality, and her mom is always overseas for business) so while "meeting the parents for the first time" is normally serious for couples, her parents could have been genuinely thinking "they're both girls, we can't assume something serious is going on between them". Her dad's real motive for asking to see Himari anyway was almost to shift blame to her for convincing Yori to stick to band stuff, since he did music at an early age and failed, and wanted to live his dream through Yori, and Yori's mom made Yori promise not to seriously pursue band stuff because she was having none of his "dream" shit.

The misunderstanding whiplash is really strong here, but misunderstandings are one of the foundations of this manga anyway. It flip-flops from Yori's mom going "YOU HAVE TO STOP YOUR BAND ACTIVITIES BECAUSE YOUR DAD WAS A MUSICIAN AND IT DIDN'T WORK OUT" to Yori's mom watching her performances with SSGIRLS and being all "if that's the path you choose, I'll accept it UwU" to Yori telling them "actually, I'm planning to quit band and go into university", with Yori's mom basically admitting "well this argument was a huge waste of time". I still thought it was a nice development of Yori's past and family dynamics.

I could've sworn Yori's mom had black hair going from the little cameo she had years ago. Anyways, she shows Himari yet another photobook of child Yori and they're both in agreement about how cute she was (she still is).
