As usual, Mitsuki finds just the right words to say. Hearing that must have meant the world to Aya right there ^_^

It's OK, I'm sure you'll find the shorter nails much more useful. ;)

"You're just pure rock and roll", she says

Let's see... some Spanish language one...

Rock and Roll
Amaral
Gato negro, Dragón rojo (2008)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lglJE3WJi50
https://www.letras.com/amaral/1376670/

Partial English TL:

We were only fifteen years old
and there I knew what it would be
two marked hearts
for the rest of the days
I have no cure anymore
I know I can't help it
Rock & Roll to be free
like the wind
I keep searching for the truth
when the silence breaks
whenever I go out to play
those memories come to me

...know what? It checks out. They ARE rock and roll.

Are false nails not a thing in Japan? Or is it that Aya is too stressed out to think about them at the moment?

There are some nail salon in Japan, but it's not that common and long fake nail don't seem to be as fashionable as it is in the west. I actually don't like long nail, especially when they are fake, so it's something I tend to notice and I don't see that often girls with long fake nails in Japan. When I do, mostly, it seems to be university students.

So my guess is that it's not a reflex for her, if she never did it before.

That makes sense, and I figure for people that grow out their nails it's a bit like growing your hair and cutting it, it can be scary to adjust to the physical change. That and growing out things like that can be heavily tied to personal image. Plus there's a sense of pride that people can have with physical aspects like that.

tackling someone after a nerve wrecking experience (in this case, your girl's exam) is very real

I know she just aimed low for the hug but it straight looks like she went full linebacker and full-on tackled her
