You think they don't have a sex life? Has the series communicated that? It wouldn't surprise me if they do have sex off screen but I don't remember if the series has said anything one way or the other.

You think maybe they're ninja assassins or JAV idols offscreen? They haven't shown it, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

Grandpa doesn't allow it.

Interesting, Sabu is making a special one-shot for the anthology to celebrate YH 20th anniversary

Crazy that whenever Saburouta tweets announcing a new citrus chapter, over 90% of the replies come from overseas fans. It's one of those manga that owns its popularity to their international audience more than the domestic audience. In Japan there are other yuri that sell more but internationally it's still the best selling yuri (I wonder if the green yuri manga will take its place eventually though, especially with the upcoming anime).

Green yuri is so winning, the anime is going to do numbers for the manga.

I like how himeko is like "big sister ? did he mean fiancée ?" because now the citrus group chat just kinda forgot they're sisters and considers them lovers

bro like stop , you just don't have it man , holy shit he's so annoying like I picture him to be exactly like some run-of-the-mill boy character in class of 09 , exact same way of talking and all , so far the arata ark seem to be a big ol' nothing burger

I've yet to see it and I doubt it , I think it's near impossible to have a story as well written as the original 10 volumes

Neither Citrus or Green Yuri are in my top 5 Yuri series personally, and regardless I think if Green Yuri's adaption hits it out of the park the series is going to be the most popular Yuri by a huge mile. There's a lot of elements working well in Green Yuri's favor if they can pull off the anime, including a flavor mix that's both Western and Japanese that appeals to a wide audience, which interests people that don't normally like anime and manga. There's more I could talk about here but I don't want to go further off topic.

The Green Yuri today is a mass phenomenon, and is having impressive sales in some countries and surely if they make a good adaptation to the anime will sell even more. But Citrus will always be citrus

New chapter up on MD: The Mei-bot accesses an archived file.

Another chapter of utter nothingness in a chapter that's only 12 pages long. Wow a family dinner, one more proof that Mei is a robot and a promise of a letter. Exactly what you expect from a couple about to get married (not).

Hey! Hey! The author remembered that there’s a grandfather! That’s progress, of a kind. Well, technically it’s regression . . . But maybe someday we’ll see the Tachibana sisters again! * sob * We actually won’t, will we? Nina and Sara are probably gone forever . . .

the day sabu gives me a chapter even if it's just 12 pages showing a conversation between yuzu and mei as a couple, I'll come to this forum and just write one word "perfect". What will these two talk about when they're alone? The stock market? The rice shortage in Japan? The elections?... I've realized that citrus+ has achieved something and it's that my top of favorite characters has been reversed. Honestly, today it would be much more interesting for sabu to develop the harumatsu for the story, today if Sara and Nina, shirapon, reappeared, giving himeko more prominence would be more interesting for the story. Honestly, and I say this with sadness, the story currently tells me nothing. Just a personal opinion.

I agree! I'll be completely honest, no disrespect intended but I seriously have no idea what the fuck Sabu is doing with Citrus+ at this point. The whole appeal of Citrus was the focus on the yuri relationship, and while there were things happening on the sidelines (like the school storyline of the two school joining), Sabu at least managed to balance that well with the main relationship.
But in Citrus+, while the beginning was nice, the slow updates and current direction make it feel like hardly anyone is reading it for the new school plot or the random new male character. Most people are here for the yuri and for Yuzu and Mei. If Citrus+ is going to shift its focus entirely away from them, Sabu really needs to realize that what made their work resonate was how grounded and emotionally driven it was. They need to seriously rethink where they're taking the story.

The Mei-bot is attempting to install a new ''interests other than study and work'' software; let's see if it works! More seriously, THIS is a lot closer to what I was hoping Citrus+ would be. Low drama, character focus, seeing what these two are like as an official couple, some interesting new family dynamics, etc. It's really not a whole lot to ask, is it ?

Mei’s last line strikes me as rather strange: “I want you to write me a letter.”

This comes about when Mei checks her desk to get out her calendar (the acting headmistress of one fairly large school and aspiring head of a second doesn’t keep her schedule in digital form, of course), and then gasps when she see the relic from OG Citrus, Yuzu’s homemade “lovey-dovey strategy” notebook.

I assume that we’re supposed to infer that the notebook reminds her of all the cute things they intended to do together that didn’t get done back then, so the letter is an example of such a thing.

But, given that a letter is an example of interpersonal communication, something that has been notably, let’s say “reserved” rather than “lacking,” between the two of them, wouldn’t it make more sense for Mei to write a letter to Yuzu instead of the other way around?

I’m trying not to be snarky (believe me, there are “Mei-bot OCR subroutine”-type gags scattered all over the place here), but one of the frustrating things about the series (the second one, anyway) is that Yuzu is always talking to Mei (at least burbling along in a friendly way, as she does in this chapter), but Mei has trouble communicating directly with Yuzu. So why not have Mei be the one to write to Yuzu?

I’m guessing that the next chapter (assuming that appears in my lifetime) isn’t going to start with Yuzu saying, “Sure, Mei, what do you want me to say? And why can’t I just say it by, you know, talking?” and Mei responding, “Oh, that part doesn’t matter, just make sure you dot your ‘i’s with little hearts and put drawings of puppies and kitty-cats in the margins.” But “please write me a letter” just seems odd.

Of course, wasn’t the last letter Mei wrote to Yuzu the “I’m sorry I broke your heart, but my responsibility to the Aihara Academy takes precedence” letter in OG Citrus Chapter 36? So maybe Mei-to-Yuzu is not the best place to start up a lovey-dovey pen-pal correspondence.

I did some re-reading. Citrus+ certainly started off strong, Not sure where it went awry, I got up to Mei and her dad about to give a talk.

It's pretty obvious what happened with this story and the author's lack of inspiration, and not to defend this ... thing ... that I dropped years ago, but, picture this:
You worked in the sales department for 13+ years, you were young, hungrier, and all this energy lead you from Assistant to Head position, you've reached the pinnacle, got a better life, and started developing other concerns, family, aging, maturing, then, all of sudden, the job that lead you to this beautiful life you have becomes secondary, and you just start going auto-pilot to the point you actually couldn't care less about what happens there, as long as you get your share at the end of the month, you're good.

That's what happened with this story, the author was once younger, hungrier, had more energy, motivation, now, it's a thing to just get by.

Again, I'm not defending the author, but try doing the same activity for 13+ years and tell me how that played out, I know I couldn't bear it. But, I totally see where the author's is coming from, personally, I just wish the author would put an end to this - even if its abrupt - so people could move on with their lives, its pretty sad to the comments how stale/uninspired/unintersing the story it is right now (I couldn't tell, because I don't read this anymore) because as writer myself, I know we put part of our own experiences into writing, so, I can tell the author is probably not in a good headspace herself either but at same time, the juice is still being squeezed on so that's not fair with readers either.

Lord knows I’ve been as hard on the trajectory of this series as anyone, but I personally don’t get the feeling from the story that the author has lost interest or is just going through the motions, exactly. If I had to speculate (and rank speculation is all it would be), I would say that some of the author’s tendencies that have been there all along have simply metastasized. That is, Citrus became popular even though the series always had a tendency to wander, there was relatively little attention to detail and to consistent characterization, and major plot developments seemed to come out of nowhere.

You see it all the time in fantasy/science-fiction literature: a series can get “too popular to be edited,” as the books on the shelf get fatter and fatter, the plots get more convoluted, and new characters proliferate and old ones get lost or forgotten.

I do think it’s notable that for Citrus + the extras and store giveaways, etc. have a good deal more zip and overall fun to them than the regular episodes, though.
