Mei is beautiful but those heart earrings look off on her.

The robot expressions are spot on, though

Another chapter of utter nothingness in a chapter that's only 12 pages long. Wow a family dinner, one more proof that Mei is a robot and a promise of a letter. Exactly what you expect from a couple about to get married (not).

Yuzu being jealous (for no reason) happened the first maybe in chapter 2 of Citrus and has happened several time later on, but I thought we were past that. We're talking about 2 girls that not only have been together for quite a while, but they're officially engaged. Do we still need introduction of new characters for yet another unsubstantiated jealousy? Is this the only thing that happens in this relationship?

I just saw your comment right as I posted my response to someone else. I agree. I don't think Arata being used primarily for jealousy works as well. Personally, I don't think that's his role, or at least not his main role. I was worried that would be all he was used for, but as it's progressed, it seems his purpose has either shifted or was always meant to be more.

What's your PFP btw?

It's Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler

Because that's intentional. Arata was introduced as a way to make Yuzu feel truly jealous, and she was just acting out because she didn't know how to deal with those feelings. I'd argue that if the underlying theme in the original story was Mei's personal growth spurred by Yuzu's presence in her life, citrus+ is all about moving Yuzu's character forward.

Concerning sex, I never really expected it to be shown, though it's an integral part of a relationship and should still happen even if off-screen. However that's probably not even in the top 5 things that this relationship still needs to properly develop, I literally cannot see Yuzu and Mei being a consolidated couple at all.

No one would be complaining if there were an actual clear separation between times when Mei is focusing on her official duties and when she is devoted to her relationship with Yuzu, nor would anyone have a problem if the series actually reflected the yuri-heavy images on the covers and in the promo materials. But the discrepancy between the tone of the color images and the actual content of the stories comes very close to being false advertising.

Some Citrus fans have always been committed to rationalizing the writer’s sloppiness and lack of focus, but it’s rather grasping at straws when “OMG, Mei smiled at Yuzu!” (you know, the person she’s in love with and is going to marry) is seen as a major sign of actual face-to-face affection from Mei to Yuzu.

Exactly. Regardless of fans defending any kind of choice whatsoever (that's true for hardcore fans of any series in the world), it's pretty evident that the quality of the story has dropped significantly, most casual readers have left and not just because of a very irregular schedule, but mainly because of a lack of proper development of both characters and relationships. Saburo Uta really seems like she has no idea where the story is heading (despite knowing the end of it, marriage) and what to do with all the main cast.

In Citrus, the love between Yuzu and Mei was always the driving force behind the story, even ahead of Aihara Academy, because if it hadn't been like that, the wedding we would have had would have been Mei and the boy manager's and Mei would already be pregnant hahaha. Citrus+ covers the story of the engaged Yuzu and Mei before the wedding and after 7 volumes the romance between Yuzu and Mei has been scarce and anyone who is not blind can see that. I'm not seeing a relationship of equals. I see a Yuzu going out of her way for Mei, but I don't see it so much on Mei's side. Sometimes I see her so cold towards Yuzu that it's scary, maybe because Sabu nerfed Mei from the beginning of Citrus+. I think Yuzu's great support in Citrus+ has been Harumin and I've seen more chemistry between them than what is supposed to be the main couple. It's my personal opinion and that's what these forums are for, to give opinions, because the other option is to disappear like most of the people who commented on this forum at the beginning of Citrus+

That's exactly how I feel. I thought C+ was supposed to lead us to the marriage by showing us the proper development of the relationship between Yuzu and Mei. And hell, we haven't seen any of that. We're still at same issues that were there from the start of the original manga, every time they seem to solve a problem the next arc they're back at square 1. Someone said that peak C+ was Matsuri-Harumi and that's correct, fans have been more involved into that than whaterver is (not) happening between the 2 main characters... They don't look like a couple, or rather they look like a couple that's been married for 80 years: there's no romance whatsoever, they barely talk to each other, and they consistently like to spend less and less time together

Aaaand... nothing relavant happened. I don't know why Saburo Uta keeps getting so much focus on this Arata Guy, nobody cares about this character and his goal serves no purpose to the story (besides yet another misunderstanding between Yuzu and Mei who won't advance this relationship one bit)
