Crazy how you can take any chapter from Citrus+ and compare it to the original manga before they got engaged, and there wouldn't be a huge difference in Mei's character. She's still as robotic and inexpressive as ever. Granted, we know she loves Yuzu, but it's still disappointing to see so little display of human emotion from her, especially because Yuzu is such a precious ray of sunshine (and the only reason I still read this). I would say Yuzu deserves way better, but she loves Mei, so alas. They totally lack chemistry though. Let's see how this letter thing goes in terms of development for them.
At least Saburouta finally got rid of the guy who only existed to drag the story further, and it seems there will finally be some focus on the main pairing after so long.

This is the most useless chapter that I have ever read whether it is Citrus or Citrus plus. Lets hope that this chapter will be the final arc of the manga, because it really serves no value.
Perhaps Sabo should got back to shoujo manga, and draw Citrus + every other month or every three months. Alternatively, just retire.

if after 17 volumes we're still questioning the chemistry between yuzu and mei it means the story is not going well (and i agree). a couple that is engaged and is unable to communicate except "by letter or smoke signals" is implausible, but sabu wants to convince us that it's plausible. where is that mei who went like a "bitch in heat" when she saw matsuri kiss yuzu in the original citrus? sabu nerfed mei at the beginning of citrus+ and from that moment on yuzu and mei's relationship slowly declined, if we add to this that sabu put the president mei and her obligations far above yuzu's girlfriend mei, then this is what we have today. zero romance. I find the "chemistry" thing funny because I remember very well in the Harumin and Matsuri arc how those who didn't want Sabu to make them a couple (the least) always argued the same thing, "they don't have chemistry", maybe they do, maybe not, but at least the interactions between Harumin and Matsuri are fun, they argue, they throw darts, hints, there's an aura of mystery that makes it interesting, damn even Matsuri has touched Harumin's "balloons" more than Yuzu has Mei or vice versa hahahaha and this is coming from a guy who is not a die-hard fan of Harumatsu, but who I'm convinced would give the reader much more fun today than the main couple, but who unfortunately is "dead and buried". And I would say the same about other completely abandoned characters like Sara and Nina, Shirapon, Harumin's sister and her girlfriend, or Himeko herself, who could still add a lot of play to the story, at least more than just an arata on duty. Regards
Again, I'm baffled at all the comments saying that Mei shows no emotions when this chapter is all about showing how out of her depth she is with her own emotions due to having been repressed for so long.
It was nice to see that Grampa Aihara has chilled out and is on good terms with the girls. Ume continues to be a treasure, and Mei asking Yuzu for a letter was incredibly sweet.

I'm wondering what kind of letter she'll expect from Yuzu, and about what.

Mei having trouble expressing her emotions due to her duties is not the problem, is that the story has been going for... 17 volumes? And she's barely starting her "expressing emotion and desire" arc? After being in a relationship with Yuzu for 1 year? 2 years? I don't remember anymore, but given they're engaged, which is a huge step for a couple, it's not irrational for readers to expect Mei to be more emotional with her fiancée at this point. Yet she has developed very little since the original manga started in that regard.

She and Yuzu have only been a couple for a few months.
yes, seven months which is the 7 volumes we have of citrus+ but they already knew each other for a long time. how many of those 7 volumes has sabu dedicated exclusively to showing us the courtship of those two from a romantic perspective and not just crumbs? that's the problem, without forgetting two very important things, they are living their courtship under the same roof and that they are engaged. for god's sake, in this chapter she asks yuzu to write him a letter, when they are face to face alone in the room. I say, wouldn't it be time to have a conversation? I admire people who read citrus+ and everything seems perfect to them, and I mean it (no sarcasm or irony in my words) because they could be enjoying it and not as is the case.

Yeah, great development having Mei show us that she's able to have emotions... after how long is it? 17 volumes? And god knows how long they've been together? And for a couple that's bout to get married?
I get it that some fans might still enjoy these two touching hands once in a while, blushing when the other say something vaguely nice and so on, but we're not talking about a couple that just asked each other out for the first time, we're talking about two engaged girls. And yet they still behave like almost strangers, just casually giving a compliment to each other once every blue moon while they're busy with school mergers, doing homeworks or getting mixed up in other people's unnecessary dramas. There's anything but the proper development of a relationship here and that's not exactly the story as advertised

All we wanted was a couple of stepsisters making out and such. One job, Sabu!

Eh...the courtship was the whole point of the original citrus.

Mei was repressing her emotions through all of citrus, citrus+ is where she's making an effort to make up to Yuzu for everything she made it go through. And strangers? Mei is actually trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy, something the old Mei would've never done.

You think we're adapting to the wedding? I've enjoyed Mei's journey so far and her efforts to open up in her way, particularly in the context of this major school project. I'm still unsure of where Sabu plans to end it, though. Do we know the exact date the wedding took place? I haven't thought about it much, but it might be nice to know how far off since each chapter is dated and a good amount of time is passing.
BTW, our PFP's are almost reverses of each other--just something I noticed because the colors stand out so much. I did enjoy that anime, even though it was so silly at times (unless I am completely getting the characters wrong).

As I understood at the beginning of Citrus+ someone commented that Sabu had said that In an interview the end would be in the graduation of the girls and end. The wedding already gave it in original citrus

I'd assume she will, since the characters introduced in citrus+ weren't present in the original wedding, so I'd expect Sabu to either explain their absence or to retcon them in. We only know the wedding happened after their graduation and citrus+ was advertised as an "interquel" filling the gaps between Yuzu proposing to Mei and their wedding, so citrus+ should cover the rest of the third year. We are in November and Japan's school year end in March IIRC so we have five months more to go.
And no, the girls in my pfp are Mirei and Mamori from Valkyrie Drive. I just noticed the full pic isn't uploaded here, sad.
She and Yuzu have only been a couple for a few months.
That doesn't add up, Citrus+ so far has gone through May to November, and Mei and Yuzu are already engaged at the start of this manga. So they have only been engaged for over 5 months, but how long have they been a couple? They first got together at the end of volume 4. Sure, they had a period of breaking up but it didn't last very long.

Yeah, so your PFP is what I thought it was. I watched the anime for Valkyrie Drive and recognized these two. Thanks for the dates. 5 months is a good amount (of in-universe time). I also wonder if we'll see Arata at the wedding. He seems like a good friend of the couple at this point, but since his involvement is so work-related, maybe not.

I find it funny that they haven't had sex yet. I am not asking for 30 pages of graphic sex between Mei and Yuzu, but the lack of a sex life is incoherent given their circumstances. Even a kiss and then a fade to black with them waking up the next day naked under the covers or just talking about what happened last night would suffice.
These girls are supposed to be madly in love, engaged, sleep in the same bed every day since they met, and are at the peak of their adolescence when hormones are on fire, yet... nothing. How can Mei resist? The covers of the original citrus are so misleading lol. This just adds to their lack of intimacy and makes it hard to believe they are a good couple.
I think Saburouta can get away with Yuzu and Mei just holding hands, kissing and blushing once in a while while introducing random characters every arc that only have the purpose of advancing the main couple's relationship, instead of developing Mei's character and her relationship with Yuzu in a well-written and interesting way because citrus fans are deeply loyal, which is rather admirable. No matter how poorly written or boring an arc or chapter is, they will enjoy it and defend it. I've seen people defend the arc about Arata so...
Maybe the new arc will finally have Mei become the girlfriend Yuzu deserves. Even Matsuri would be a better gf.

Yeah, the people who like the series and see these events and dynamics differently just don't know quality. Definitely.

Eh...the courtship was the whole point of the original citrus.
Partially true, and the point of this manga is the development in a relationship of an engaged couple. And there's nothing of it.
Mei was repressing her emotions through all of citrus, citrus+ is where she's making an effort to make up to Yuzu for everything she made it go through. And strangers? Mei is actually trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy, something the old Mei would've never done.
I didn't wanna properly analyze that before, but saying that Mei repressed her emotions through Citrus is actually not the truth. She shows a lot of emotions in the early volumes, it's jut that Saburo downgraded her to a complete emotionless robot since, so the fact that she's showing something now (which is also not really the first time, it's just an endless loop of the same childish situations) it's not a real development.
And she's trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy? Wow, that's something that... nobody really cares about. See, this is exactly the issue of C+, while you might say this is a tiny action that shows a change in the relationship, to me this is actually like putting a cherry on the side of a mud cake. We're still not adressing the main problems here, so yes the fact that they're about to get married and still don't even know how to communicate with each other is like saying they are strangers.

And she's trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy?
I think it’s hilarious that people are using this as an example of the opening of Mei’s character and the growing bond between the couple, since Mei only shared those plans when Yuzu accidentally found out that Mei hadn’t been telling her about those plans, even though the merger project is what was keeping Mei so busy she couldn’t celebrate Yuzu’s birthday properly.
So sure, it’s more heartwarming than a “Now that you’ve discovered my plan I must have my henchmen throw you off a cliff” response, but not exactly a sparkling example of proactive trust on Mei’s part.
Mei telling Yuzu about her plans to take over the Aihara Academy in the first place was one of the first things Mei ever shared with Yuzu that she hadn’t told anyone else. Now she doesn’t tell Yuzu what’s going on with her ambitions until Yuzu confronts her about it.
