If I was her In resigning immediately and moving to the opposite side of the country with my gf
Gf works there too. Probably doesn't want to move.
Based on the toxic and weird relationship they have, I bet she'd just dump our MC at the first mention of moving...
I don’t want to be the “there’s too many men in this yuri story” person but…there’s too many men in this yuri story.
This feels like a forbidden chimera of the writings of Natsu Hyuuga, Mari Okada and Takako Shimura.
Even calling this 'toxic yuri' doesn't feel right because while the yuri that exists here is 'toxic', it makes up about 10% of what the protagonist spends her time doing. The rest is her being accosted by a bunch of straight high school students and a male teacher. It almost feels like the het is the goal and the yuri is the obstacle. Normally I would be more careful about that kind of prediction, but this story doesn't have any real hook in terms of plot so I think it's fair game.
There are of course yuri series out there that involve a messy F/F pair in a deeply unpleasant environment full of straight people, like Her Tale of Shim Chong, Tough Love at the Office, and Love Thy Neighbor. But in this case there is no (lesbian) romance narrative, no tale of falling in love (in the lesbian sense), nor does the story follow a pair of women whose mutual obsession with each other threatens to destroy their lives. The main character here starts with a bad girlfriend (female sex friend?) but wading through the shark tank of heterosexuality that is her workplace is what seems to form her 'journey', to make her life interesting. She's supposedly having a bad time, sure, but it's not a flavor of unpleasantness that is played for drama, suspense or horror. Whether it's meant to serve the audience's humiliation kink, imply that the main character likes the attention from the high school boys, or something else, I don't know, but it's not giving off a yuri vibe to me.
But this is what I appreciate the most about manga, it's free enough to explore things that would never see the light of day in the West.
This is hardly too "spicy" for the anglo market or even booktok. Americans even made a shitty HBO drama about a bunch of straight high school students fucking and doing drugs, but with the protagonist in a doomed F/F relationship for some ungodly reason. In fact this story would be pretty unremarkable if it wasn't uploaded to Dynasty Scans specifically, a site that has a decent tag system but which can't adequately account for a story that features a female protagonist with a girlfriend but gives off hetero vibes otherwise.

Anyway, her hair is really cute. Nobody does it like that anymore.
I don’t want to be the “there’s too many men in this yuri story” person but…there’s too many men in this yuri story.
I just checked more closely and the cover page looks like a man pushing the protagonist on the ground. Pack it up yuri fans.

Huh...I never noticed that but that definitely looks to be a man's hand. I always simply thought she was pinned down by a woman...I guess because that's the content I was expecting given the usual focus of Dynasty's uploads and the tags. I feel like everything lined up for my brain to play tricks on me, welp.
The ambiguity is probably intentional, but it's not how I would advertise my series if I was trying to make yuri
This is such a shit storm lol. Everyone is so clearly on edge and miserable, but doesn't want to look away due to some sort of perverse, morbid curiosity. If this manga actually does turn out to be some sort of sick conversion fantasy, this could easily become the most controversial upload to dynasty scans I've seen in my 6 years reading on this site.

Now I’m worried about the actual title of the manga. “Learning love.” The implication being her current lesbian relationship isn’t love. This…might actually be a het conversion manga.
The ONE thing against that is this mangaka has been doing solely yuri before now.

my bag is pack and ready to depart anytime. Though haven't book the flight yet. Still I will came back if I'm in one of those mood where I just read random series. Another series where I put them in a list of "It had me at 'hello'—and lost me at 'whatever that was'." plot moment

okay so, imagine my surprise coming to check on the kinds of opinions being divulged in the forum section of a manga I'm hesitantly but still very intrigued by and finding a dozen posts of doomspiralling.
What are we doing here? While I can't say for certain where this story is going, the fact that Kaede is being harrassed at every turn by heterosexuals assuming she is also heterosexual is not in fact an endorsement of heterosexuality come on! Like, sorry to say but right now, all the story is doing is putting Kaede in a bad spot because she's surrounded by people with ulterior motives all of whom are shitty none of whom (with the single exception of Nami) she is going along with.
Like let's put our ducks in a row.
Kaede is dating Nami who never responded to her confession ten years ago but has been happy to string Kaede along for attention.
Itaoka is one hundred percent happy to let everyone around them assume he's already dating Kaede in a bid to get her to feel like she has no other choice (something Kaede has arguably not even picked up on yet, because he is simply THAT not on her radar thinking merely that he's been making a distastful joke)
Oda-kun got angry at Kaede for her inability to stop rumors from spreading (something she has no power over and the narrative does not suggest she does) he either does this because he's crushing on Kaede or because he's helping someone else (potentially Nakanishi) and is mad on their behalf.
Additionally Miki an her cronies are mad at Kaede because of the rumors Itaoka is happy to fuel.
None of this is her fault and I really don't see how any of this is presented as her fault as of yet.
Ultimately right, everyone who is angry at her is angry because they have ulterior motives that would become unreachable if she happened to already be dating someone (and in Miki's case Itaoka specifically)
But she IS already dating someone, someone who is currently shitty to her sure, but someone nonetheless. Who by the way if you check the end of chapter 2 is not exactly left unperturbed by the rumor that Kaede is supposedly dating Itaoka.
Now here's my prediction and I'll admit I could be wrong. Right now Kaede and Nami are in a pretty fragile relationship, not only is Kaede the asking party but Nami has already shown she is more than happy to cut things off if she's made to do any work in this relationship.
Right now through the rumors, and the love letter (again potentially from a girl potentially from Nakanishi) Nami is being pressured TOO. Is this just a fragile relationship to her, or is she finally ten years after the fact going to have to prove her devotion to Kaede. Because I'll be honest right. I really do think that as of right now everything we've seen is set-up that will force Nami to prove if she's as willing to throw this relationship away as she says she is. And sure she might dress it up as posessiveness at first. Let's not forget Nami wears pretty masculine clothing, the clothes she appeared in while at school in the first chapter have the same cuffs as the mystery person on the cover does. Addtionally on the cover kaede's nails aren't painted and their hands look very similar. I really don't think we can say the mystery person is anyone other than Nami as of yet.
And even is she is, even if this relationship breaks apart, I really don't think there's any chance that Kaede will get together with a man here. Itaoka is already proving himself to be more than happy to manipulate Kaede into not having the polite choice to turn him down, and Oda is already more likely to be working on someone else's behalf than on his own.
And these are the only two men who have anything to do with Kaede specifically.

Some of y'all are getting a bit paranoid and jumping the gun about this going het (or even "het conversion"? Seriously?)
Sure, the MC has several hetero in her immediate vicinity who are assuming the MC is straight (as per usual for the heteronormative world) as well as just acting shitty in general.
But our MC is in a lesbian relationship.
And the frontrunner (or mine at least based on her reactions this chapter) for the sender of the love letter is Nishitani, a girl.
And this author has only made yuri manga (well, from what's translated at least).
The "Learning Love" seems to so far come from the MC learning about love from examples around her. The world is mostly straight, so it's no surprise her examples are too. This doesn't mean our MC will be entering a straight relationship.

Her boundaries are too flimsy. Regardless of the relationship(s) she has with teachers, her students are still STUDENTS. It’s kind of ridiculous she’s being bullied and scolded by kids.
That being said I’m pretty sure this is going to be a story about learning healthy boundaries in relationships. It’s definitely still going to be yuri.
Now I don't want to add fuel to the flames (that's a lie), but ...
If this manga actually does turn out to be some sort of sick conversion fantasy, this could easily become the most controversial upload to dynasty scans I've seen in my 6 years reading on this site.
...oh you sweet summer child. And that's just one example.
Anyway, is everyone here aware that you can simply check the source? The author tagged this 4 different kinds of yuri (one of which is co-worker yuri, for those worried about student x teacher) on pixiv and has an extensive gallery of both gay artwork and manga there. Let's assume Hanano Chiaki might know what yuri means.

oh nice! I was hoping and reasoning for it but it's good to hear the story is definitely going to be about Kaede and Nami's relationship. What are the other three types if you don't mind me asking? I'd imagine one of them is just yuri but then there'd still be some left.
Please mind that I'm just using pixiv's own, questionable tag translation (proxied), but it's 大人百合 (adult yuri), 作百合 (original yuri), 百合漫画 (yuri manga), 社会人百合 (coworker yuri) and of course 百合 (yuri). There is also 学園恋愛もの which machine translation tells me means "cchool romance story", which could mean everything or nothing at all, really.

I'm curious to where hindsight lands in a few chapters, and then further out afterwards. Since chapter 1 and 2 had me easily convinced that this was going a pretty standard route of our MC getting into trouble with a girl in her class, due to the love letter, her being warned to not get involved, I thought it was certain and was curious what route it would take from there. Now after just the 3rd chapter I think I was probably wrong, and I have no idea where this is taking us lmao
I'm not sure whether the mods or uploaders handle the tags but I'd say to add a universal "Het" tag to the work to quell debate.
I'm not confident this is yuri long-term, on their pixiv it's tagged as a Renai manga. Don't know where everyone else is getting their information.

The first chapter release for the series has all the tags. The Pixiv link above takes us directly there (from Zesc's link). If you click to "continue reading" you'll also see the post's description which has a blurb that discusses it as a series about love, in which you will see mature/adult yuri and various relationships involving teachers and students.
There's also 5 chapters out now that don't change my mind on the tags--they do the opposite. I don't think we need any change of tags.
This is an AI Translation of her tweet for the series:
Thank you for reading "School Romance"! Not only yuri, but also various love stories between men and women. Maybe we'll get to see more of Kaede and Nami getting cozy with each other...? She'll do her best to help her students, so please keep an eye on her. The first four episodes are now available on Piccoma and U-NEXT!
In other news: these kids and teachers suck.

Welp...I am kind of surprised a lot of random people are panicking about this possibly (Seem 'kind of unlikely')...Unless you people are some kind of psychologist experts that are able to predict people behaviors [Doubtful] or have insider information about the author [I check their work on this site, it's mostly Yuri, one normal cute teacherXStudent yuri...One messed up TeacherXStudent oneshot and a few normal studentXStudent yuri one-shots] then your just all being silly.....Please listen to the few commentators talking common sense and logic here folks XD
The cover 'hand' looking like a man's hand complaint/concern huh?...Okay sure I guess that might alarm some people but it also possible the artist/author just fking sucks at drawing feminine hands/wrists...I guess someone can ask (Bribe) the author who the person's hand is (Female or Male) but meh I doubt we will get a response.
Best idea if you people and folks are that scared....Come back in like chapter 5-6 and ask people if your concerns were correct about a possible 'het' direction [People are going to have avoid avoid spoilers though.] XD
I want Nami (MC's crush and kind of...but also not really 'official' GF) to finally become a better person and treat MC right, with the proper love and respect that she deserve...You know kind of like character development and growth...But eh...I kind of Doubt it like the other people here...MC is going to probably break up with Nami in the future (Just my guess and theory)....and 'if'/When they do...I just wish for Nami to 'Sincerely' apologize to the MC for toying with her feelings and to say " I know it's late but...Thank you for confessing to me 10 years ago during high school"...Because if she doesn't then I just want MC to fking punch her in the face for leading her on for a whole 10 years then...
Seems Nakanishi might be the main potential love interest in the future sadly [Assuming Nami doesn't change for the better]...Welp RIP to the TeacherXTeacher Route...Hello StudentXTeacher Route (Hear panic footsteps of some people running from this pairing)!!!
Tho...In the very unlikely chance (It possible...there is always that 1% chance, life is unpredictable...) that the author will steer this storyline into a HET direction in the future then you guys can start throwing riots and making long rants complaints on Redd*t lol about how the author ruin their story and is a hack XD
I mean...What the heck kind of possible het love interest could MC end up with...Oda-kun shows off no visible clear sign of feeling of love/crush/romantic [Just being vague somewhat arrogant thinking he knows everything that is going on and trying to be the mysterious wise-guy in the know (Chapter 2's love letter suggests that sender does not think MC will accept her/his 'love'...and that 'sender' just asked to be 'acknowledged')] and the scummy arrogant Male teacher...Which MC is mad at him for his so-called 'joke' and missing his flirting due to not having interest in men and having a GF [...Well kind of GF...].
Having an unrequited love for someone you've been dating for ten years is so bonkers, I just assumed she was talking about someone else she knew before getting with her GF, someone from when she was in high school herself, until I read the comments here
Anyway guessing Oda is in love with Nakanishi who is in love with MC, and she'll break up with her GF and get with the student.
Not to add more fuel but its fun seeing people panic at this manga just because it breaks ‘how a yuri should be/feel like’ lol
The first chapter is tagged as yuri in pixiv but not the second one, so its going to be a mix. Also, Hanano Chiaki has done het stuff before, mostly pixiv originals (ex. age-gap about a girl that pinch the nipples of a teenager boy)
Well some people just wanted to see yuri hihi. I wouldn't mind reading one like these, but I prefer getting hooked up to series that are full of yuri, and as for series that have het but end up yuri with good writing, I still read it, but only if the series is finished. But for this one? wellll who knows, those who only want yuri like me definitely drop it as soon finding out the het material is possible.
No hate for het romance story, a lot of them are great. Still ngl these character students and teachers have personal problems, and I wonder if any relationship that exists will prevail till the end, and it becomes one of those stories that no one will end up with anyone. The character development story will be on my lookout for this one
I guess we'll have to see what's up with Nami, but she does have a picture of them together in her home. Maybe it's not a big thing, but to me that implies she cares about Kaede and their relationship, yet doesn't want to go public in fear of both of them losing their jobs? Or something along those lines.
The "unrequited love for 10 years" bit might be Kaede being an unreliable narrator...
