While this probably is just Rachel's fumbling ass being a dumdum, I could see an argument for her thinking Xiya doesn't really like her and would never have done anything if it wasn't for the mana transfer, and not wanting to kiss because it wouldn't be geniune. Which, you know, still a dumdum, just in a different way.

Yeah I was thinking about this chapter along with the line from Ch 3 p 8 "I'm aware I'll be heartbroken countless times, again and again until the day I die. And that I just need to get used to it..." which to me sounds like a gay girl dealing with the inevitability of being in love with straight girls, but I'll grant you that there are other reasons someone might think themselves abnormal.

Also, maybe she's yet to meet another gay girl (that she knows of) which is why she feels heartbreak is inevitable. In her case, another (more experienced, I guess) lesbian's perspective on how to deal with stuff like crushes on het girls could be extra helpful.

Ah, there they go! I wish we had gotten to see more of them actually dating (although that'd change the ending and it could be harder to have it all wrapped up nicely), but at least Hinami finally got her happy wedding with Tsukino!

Setup chapters they may be, they still feel kinda disjointed and directionless. I guess they might read better on a future reread, after we get the payoff, or at least something more explicit as a thread that ties them together and not just implications of "this is how Mitsuki assembles her band".
