Like, what do you even want? Would you rather there'd never be any sort of conflict bc apparently any kinda complications count as "forced drama" now. Is a story devoid of problems where nothing ever happens so there's no "drama" what you want? bc that's how you get "no substance, fluff only" slice of life 4-koma strips.

Often when people say "forced drama," what they mean is "bad drama." This series has a lot of bad drama, as others have explained. I would love some good drama, instead. This isn't it.

Yeah it's something where I think the fluff in this series is great, but the drama often leaves something to be desired. I wish both the drama and the fluff were great.

I still have some hope on the author. This drama has the same vibes of the race arc (scenario built in just one episode, sociocultural obligations, not thinking about your relationship first...), I don't want to believe that she'll repeat almost the same frustrating scenario again.

Personally, I love the light drama in this series, and the best episodes are when they agree after the drama (Crickets and Kase-san, Moving with Kase-san pt. 2...), so I hope this one has a good and new resolution.

I bet Kase will be upset, but not because Yamada missed out on her race because of work, a Japanese person understands that. But because she pushed her body so hard to the point of collapse again. She already said in that episode that she wants Yamada to quit this job after she fainting.

If Yamada just stopped and thought for a moment, she should just introduce Mikawacchi to her part time place.

She gets to go to the race, Mikawacchi gets a job, she gets to have time for sex with Kase.

Mikawacchi was technically the one who ditched that job on her in the first place.

I forgot. However...
That's even better, she already knows how to do it!

In my opinion it's worth it if you enjoy some cozy fluff between the main couple, because there's very comfy chapters of that, just between some iffy drama. Sometimes I need to take a break for a little bit so the drama can be easier to binge after numerous chapters are out, but I still enjoy the series. So it kind of depends on your tolerance for wonky drama. I feel the majority of people here hate the series now, so I might be in the minority with love for it and a willingness to say read it for the fluff lol

Personally, I recommend to read until chapter 26/28 and give it another break, at least since the actual arc is finished.

The fluff is unbeatable, I have to say, I generally like the drama in this series; it's usually lighthearted, with a few misunderstandings. But the story arc that follows those episodes (26/28) is terribly forced drama, literally the author created the perfect storm from nowhere in the last three pages of an episode.

What is even the problem, just close the shop until the deliveries are done. Three people quitting is already a terrible sign, wouldn't want to lose my last (seems like she still has more?) surviving part-timer. She could even ask someone from her neighborhood, surely there is some nice old regular customer with enough time. If Yamada says yes, I will respect her slightly less.

It's Japan. Sociocultural obligations are kind of a big thing. And Yamada's already kind of a doormat. She'll probably say yes.

Here we go with more forced drama. Obviously she will say yes and 10am race her boss won't come back after a hour and she won't make it to the race.

The quality of the series really went down hill. I think ever since they switched publication or whatever it was and then started the sequel series.

Maybe the author doesn't know how to write a none high school story proper so just forces the drama to make a story. Or they have a editor that is pushing them to add drama.

I'm pretty sure the point here is just to explore the slice of life of being in a relationship, both the fluffy fluff and the little disagreements and fights and inconveniences.

Most people don't deal with "My partner is struggling with their gangster ex rolling back into town." they deal with stuff like missing an important event because something kind of understandable but also pretty avoidable came up.

It's so cozy and fluffy, I enjoy every second that I am reading. It's just one of those series where you read with a smile by how mundanely sweet it is. Though there is a drama arc that is a bit annoying and poorly written, the rest is awesome.

YES. It's what slice of life is about, I love this genre for how normal it can be sometimes. And so far, this series is doing great, except for 1 small hiccup...

I just bought volume 4, the volume that covers the entire race arc (by the way, 4.9 out of 5 stars by Japanese readers LOL), and in the omake, it's clear that Inoue knew Fukami was in love with Kase-san.

Did she order the race to give Fukami a chance? This confirms her as the villain of the arc. What a bitch, knowing how good and sweet Yamada is.

That just makes all that even more messy and uncharacteristic.

I remember seeing a lot of comments complaining about the drama with the race arc before I even finished the original Kase-San and I gotta say, this was fucking terrible. I get the thought process for wanting more drama in the sequel to contrast the original but God all this contrived drama was not the way to do it.

I can't even enjoy the fluffy parts because the back of my mind just reminds me that Kase is an inconsiderate jerk at worst or just an oblivious dumb ass at best. At least here it's actually split into proper parts so I can pretend it doesn't exist. Unlike Mangadex where it's combined into one part for some asinine reason.
