Rather than starting with cheating, it really seems to have started (and ended, since it's a oneshot) with pre-meditated murder - how romantic! Trading one host of problems for a whole slew of others... that could actually make a fun crime manga/manhwa, the maid/mistress and widow trying to keep not just the murder under wraps and attention diverted, but also their relationship.
The isekai (?) aspects were kind of weird, honestly; not sure what, if anything, it added to the story. I suppose 'love beyond death/reincarnation'?

As i understand it, i think its more of a time travel story. The brown-haired girl was originally the MCs maid, but the husband ended up killing the MC. The maid prays and gets sent back in time and into a noble family, where she hatches a plan to take out the MCs husband before he kills her. Honestly as far as murder plots go, not that unreasonable.

My main question with the time travel is what happened to the Mary of the new timeline. Mistress still remembers her so she wasn’t erased, but she doesn’t seem to be around.

My guess is she died as a maid and came back in time in the new body, her soul changed places with the new body's soul. This a common formula for this type of story if I'm not remembering wrong.

Mary looks the same in both timelines so rather than her "taking over" somebody else's role I think it's more like the new timeline she went back to is one where she had always existed as a noble instead of a maid. So there was nobody to be erased. Her Mistress simply remembers her from the original timeline.

An alternate universe kinda deal.
