I bet the effect wore off. The blonde girl is probably just calling Ruruna "Master" and acting all bubbly to escape the crowd around her table, and to have an excuse to hang out with Ruruna. Haha, imagine Lol. That would make the story even more interesting. ;-)

I really hope the author cooks the way you want them to.

I mean, a plot twist like that would be cool, but I'm curious whether the story will take a different direction or if every chapter will follow the same hallucination aspect.

Idiot Lesbian

That's a lot of words to say hate you the author.

I feel like they were half-joking, given the type of language and the purposeful amount of words. Was a fun read.

It's what an over active brain and high verbal acuity does to a motherfucker

... and human society at large is just fine with that, or what?

And if the rest of the vampires are just as dorky as Ruruna?

Humans may let them live like we do with pandas.

I feel like there's an argument to be made that the vampire thing is all in Ruruna's head and she's just extremely chuuni

That definitely feels like the implication from what I've read so far

I like that she got the goody two shoes with the mommy complex, that character is often overlooked and ends up like the third wheel to the main couple in most mangas, so this is a refreshing change

Well... I was trying to ignore the most problematic aspects of the story but I've got to say, showing the popular and bubbly life, from when her thoughts and feelings were her own, of the girl who just got brainwashed into being in love with Ruruna is really twisting the knife in the salted wound.

It feels weird that she calls her "Master" rather than "Mistress".

Moral quandaries that sour the fluff tend to be written around in series like this. I'd say there is like a 90% chance the girl is not actually enslaved and is playing along with it because our vampire lead is so adorable.

That sort of stuff happens a lot in non-English media using gendered English terms like that. I'd say it's kind of a trope at this point that female characters get called male gendered titles in manga and anime. Could be part of the general trend towards gender neutral terms in English, or, more likely, a product of Japanese people not being fluent in English. I'd just get used to it as a quirk of the medium.

That would also imply Wakana is some kind of extreme bottom that is playing along for the kink.

So why would a vampire decide to study at a human school after living 400 years? And was she a vampire right from birth or did she become a vampire after being bitten? If she transformed after being bitten, then Wakaba could also become a vampire.

I think that is the most likely explanation so far.

I'm not convinced by the "it's fake/delusions" theory.

Aside from the heroine's narration (and her name) the story also flat out labels her as vampire when introduced. The bite in ch.1 looks real, with blood around her mouth, and in ch.2 you see the bite marks. The "victim" collapses, and was attacked from behind - how on earth do you "delude" yourself into that having happened that way, and having "your victim" then go along with it spontaneously? Nothing in ch.2 or 3 points specifically to any inconsistency with any of those; the vampire features are always present, there's nobody in the background or anything that does anything contradictory, the classmates don't react like it's unreal or anything.

Lastly, and to me most importantly, the trope of having changed pupils is always consistently there too. And we know playing around with character's pupils is serious business ;)

If this is supposed to culminate in a "plot twist" then I gotta say from what's shown so far it's not well done. There should at least be some reasons for doubt, but there's nothing.

What I could imagine is some sort of rule like enthralling only works if the person goes along with it willingly or somesuch thing. But otherwise this doesn't really check out for me ^^#

I still fully expect the "dubious consent" in the tags is what Wakana is going to do to our local idiot vampire.

Eh, either way, the writing is inconsistent

If she's a real vampire, it doesn't make sense how she's been subsisting on tomato juice, never drank blood before in 400 years, is still a massive virgin, and chooses to attend high school somehow despite the expense of faking documents

If she's a chuuni, most of this makes sense as she is established to have trouble making friends and may have invented a fantasy about herself as a result. However, you have to deal with the eyes, the narration, and the blood drinking scene at the beginning all being somehow a red herring based on her fantasies

Personally, I think that the author just wanted the story to be a certain way and wasn't too concerned about explaining why it was that way. It will still be a fun read no matter which way it goes

It might be a case of unreliable narrator.

Or maybe she's just stoopid.

Honestly that question can be applied to Twilight as well LOL

I feel like some people here are trying to find logical consistency in the fact that this story is a comedy, and playing with the rules of vampirism according to established comedy manga rules. Like, no, it actually does make sense that she's been subsisting on tomato juice, that's how vampires work in lighthearted manga, yes it does make sense for her to be 400 years old and going to high school, the age of a vampire simply doesn't matter beyond big number cool in works like this.

And sure you can find the mind control aspect of this dubious, objectionable even, but given that it is the central point of this story, Ruruna is after all looking to find a good servant for herself, you can expect it'll be expanded on and won't just stay "I bit her so she's no longer a person in her own right"

All that to say, yeah no I don't think this is chuuni, beyond the fact that vampires are inherently a little chuuni, I do think she's a real vampire, she's just a comedy vampire and those do play by different rules.

Haven't seen this type of manga going on.
Glad it came back.
Have a good chuckle.
This is good, especially the vampire is the decent here, and human being..human.

Needs more of these chapters, very fun to read.

Read the currently released chapter, looks like our vampire girl is getting into some legal troubles. It appears she's such a shut in that she's way behind the times lol

This chapter has me putting a bit more stock in the theory that Wakana is just pretending to be enthralled. I could see Ruruna being saved from this "legal" situation by Wakana revealing she's in control of her actions.
