This is such a fascinating unique story concept, and it's executed very well so far. No idea if it'll stick the landing of course, but I'm optimistic (not necessarily for a happy ending, just a good ending)

That "End" at the bottom of the last page jumpscared me until I remembered that every chapter has one

Goddammit... They're always so nice together, and this was such a lovely little bit of a summer experience at home, but of course there's always that dread in the background, and then that ominous ending...

The melancholy of how each of these chapter endings reminds me of Cowboy Bebop.

It makes me really curious of where this is going, but more so, of how it will get there.

i was wondering how they were gonna stick the ending without it feeling anticlimactic or like a cop out. and this is honestly much better than i'd hoped, given the length. the artist has a hell of a talent packing heavy meaning into the subtlest things. i'm glad she chose to live. and if they do die together, at least they're no longer alone (in a tbh very profound way).

aside from the ending itself, i really enjoyed the contrast between them. konno protects herself by numbing over, vs yunimaru/saki going down fighting and clawing. and together they reach a kind of emotional equilibrium, once they finally let down their walls enough. it's sweet

i think this is one of those rushed open-ended conclusions that authors are often pushed into by their editors/publishers. the way it started, there could've been so much more to unpack regarding Konno's story but this is what we got.

to be honest, going by the last couple pages of text, i don't think Konno truly wanted to die, i think she wanted to feel, for lack of a better term, something. i think they'll move to a remote part of Japan and Saki will convince to live their lives there while basking in their newly formed relationship.

It's based on a novel, the ending of the manga is (I presume) the ending of the novel. It's ambiguous on purpose.

I think the slap came from her own frustration. She was frustrated that Konno was trying to take her own life, and even more so when it turned out to be true. as seen on page 18.
