I feel like Homa-nee's story will not be pleasant to hear...

I have a feeling you're right.

Really sweet chapter. Finally we'll get that discussion between them.

Kiki just casually helping her sister along to her eventual bi awakening

Has her sister been in a relationship with anyone yet? I thought she was single or with little information about it. She's not dating her dance partner now, it seems.

i don't remember if anything was ever confirmed, but you're prob right. Looking at the previous chapter she says she envies Kiki for having someone precious she tries so hard for. She is wearing a ring on her left hand and Youji clearly does like her, but there's no clear view on his hands soooo.

But well, going by her attitude to life and the story she told Kiki, it wouldn't surprise me if she just assumed she was straight bc she never thought about herself that hard. And clearly Kiki gave her an idea about Tsukiko that hadn't crossed her conscious mind before at the very least xD

On second look he does seem to have a ring too? You can see it in some scenes. I'm just unsure of where they'll go with this then. I think I was thrown off because she never thinks of Youji much when wondering about her feelings for her partner.

Her feelings are sort of left up in the air as though there's a chance she'll realize something new. They've hinted at feelings between both women before (even last chapter) but I doubt they'll break up her and Youji or will spend that much time on it. So, I don't know what the point of the hints will be.

squints Now i'm doubting myself xD like on this page. i thought the hand with the ring was Homare's, mostly bc in the top-right panel the arm that the ringed hand holds onto looks like it connects to the sweater Youji is wearing. But that's kind of an awkward pose tbh and on the previous page where Tsukiko had her arm over her shoulder as you'd expect, it looks like Homare isn't wearing a ring.

If it's hers, then it might just be inconsistent drawing and i'm back to my previous post. If it's his then that could either mean that he is a boyfriend, maybe hers or maybe not hers which would conflict with his feelings for Homare. Or he's nobody's boyfriend and just wears a ring in the wedding ring spot for the heck of it xD

Well we have no idea how long this series is gonna be iirc, so for all we know we might get a whole side arc about Homare figuring out her feelings (or at least an omake or two updating us on it). Would feel weird not to do anything with it beyond giving Kiki some development but guess we'll have to see~

I kinda liked that this whole sister talk didn't really have that much to do with unrequited love or whatever, it would be so easy for a yuri series to throw in yet another pairing but this was way better, and I liked the realization of "love isn't that simple" :P Not that I would mind otherwise but it makes it feel a bit more grounded if it isn't just "pair up all the girls ever mentioned in the story".

They both have a ring on their ring finger. On the page you linked it's definitely Youji's hand securing Homare's arm wrapped around his shoulder, while Homare's ring is clearly visible here and here. The way Kiki casually asks him when he started liking her sister also seems to indicate that they are in a relationship; I doubt she would be so forward otherwise. I don't really remember what was mentioned about the sister in older chapters, but considering how we see both Kiki and Youji welcoming her back home after her dinner, I think it's safe to assume that she has been living together with him and they both came back to visit her family. Otherwise, I don't see any reason why Youji would be in the same house as Kiki at night.

What's interesting is that Homare is holding a cup in the beginning that kind of just vanishes at some point lol. So I think the author probably just forgot to draw the ring in some of the scenes. Easy to forget about a ring when you forget a whole cup, I would say.

We never see a clear shot of her feet after, so it's possible she simply finished and put it down.

okay, glad i'm not the only one, thought i was going crazy there for a sec xD That just makes her comment about being envious of Kiki for having someone precious all the more confusing/intriguing. I really hope we get to see where this plot thread goes, i'm gonna lose sleep over it at this rate

We never see a clear shot of her feet after, so it's possible she simply finished and put it down.

The cup was still full while she was talking, so unless she chugged the whole thing between pages 18 and 19, I don't think that's possible. It would also imply that the left it for the pigeons, since she never picks it up to throw away (we see both of her hands at different panels in the scene where they part and she's not holding anything other than her phone in any of them).

Taking the above into consideration, I think we can conclude that the author can be a bit forgetful about the details lol (or at least they were in this particular chapter).

Yeah, the whole situation does seem kind of weird and vague.
No more vague than the fate of that cup tho

I am so glad that this didn't rehash that old fallacy of "nobody will ever love you if you don't love yourself". It's refreshing, really.

Hope it will be an awakening, not just some plot-devide and later we will see Kiki attends the wedding of the sister and this guy. Like, nothing against het relationship, but I really don't remember if the guy ever got mentioned before this arc, and suddenly he appeared, and seemingly got engaged with the sister (the rings, that looks like only Kiki has caught on). Not to mention, like previous comment said, the sister didn't think about him when she thought about love. Well of course if later chapters will expand on the sister's story, and they actually have been building their relationship probably then I don't mind. Just please not "he is a good guy, and we have been partners for long so I should say yes". There is also a slump in their dancing.

man... i never liked that whole "i'm kind of rejecting you right now but please keep loving me in case i change my mind" shebang. after so much buildup just for that... i think it would be easier to stomach if this wasn't a bi-monthly release.
regardless, it was a really sweet scene and i'm glad to see them back together

The "please keep loving me" thing doesn't read like a rejection here at all to me. Instead it feels like a response to Michiru's "this is hurting us both" comment - Kiki is trying to tell Michiru that her feelings aren't a burden.

Her struggles with self-esteem and ability to receive affection come off as being behind the mumbled "maybe something like that". When you're down on yourself that hard, it's very easy to view your own affection as something that can make another person happy, or whether you're giving enough in return. But at the very least, Kiki seems to be taking pains here to make it clear she considers Michiru to be a special presence in her life, the person she wants to be with most.

So I guess my read of it is more like "please don't feel like your love is a burden, I want to be someone who doesn't become a burden to you because you're special to me." It's less that Kiki has to change her mind on Michiru, so much as she has to find the confidence to match her lead.

I barely know anything about Homare and basically nothing about the other two in her love triangle, they dance around the topic so much that the stakes are unclear, and they just laugh it off in the end anyway. So... What was the point? And I do not feel like their business resonates enough with the main couple's conflict to justify opening the chapter that should by all accounts serve as a pivotal moment for them.

Looking back this series has always had some similarity to Takako Shimura's style of storytelling but Homare's love triangle is where that style really shows its age. Shion's shitstirring is arguably another example, even if now I like where that character ended up going.

This story has a quality I can only describe as sleepy (plotting, art style, physicality) and everything Kiki's sister contributed recently slowed it down even more, but then with Kiki and Michiru's reunion the pendulum swings to the opposite. The scene feels oddly rushed, as if the dialogue was just rattling off the bullet points of their conflict. It doesn't click for me.
