ch 31 page 3: oh, the wisdom of quitting when you're ahead... you still have to learn it, young one!

Youzi and Caicai go on a date and traumatise a scrub for not knowing his place.

What a precious child, I'm so proud of her.

Sorry, can someone explain how she's lying when she's just asking questions, both times?

I assume the lie is about the "too" in that statement. She's not there for the case bc she is the target, so saying "too" when she asks Youji is a lie.

It's more an issue of general dishonesty. She's been given a secret to keep, and she has a tell when she's trying to put up a front.

Damn right she's the treasure. Interesting to see product placement in a GL manhua... Well, if it means more money for the artist, then I don't mind. Pretty tasteful either way.

Pretty tasteful either way.

That was as blatant and obnoxious as it can get.

between the ad chapters and stuff like that one lipstick commercial about reincarnated lesbians it seems like yuri really does sell (at least for beauty products lol)

That wasn't even just product placement, really--that last page was frankly an ad.

OK, meanwhile, Youzi.exe has crashed . . . she really is us, isn't she? :D

Well, artists have to make a living somehow. Guess they need that ad money.

Youzi has been fed well tonight.

Also, while I am not a fan of such blatant product placement, if each instance of it is preceded by food this good, I'll tolerate it.

Yessss, finally. This is one of my absolute favorites, it's been so long since last update, I was a bit worried.

(of course as always, thanks to the uploader/translators)

She got rid of her glasses that made her ugly and incompetent, she's much more beautiful without them... hate that trope so much.

I'm glad she got help at the end tho and a little boost to her confidence to keep going and get better despite her horrible treatment at the start. Maybe it's improved by now.

So let's see, we got names for the Chens, I think. Correct me if those were shown earlier and I missed it. Director is Chen Mo, actor/show host is Chen Qingyan. We also get confirmation that Youzi punching that boy really did put her mom's career in a precarious position, not just her conflating separate matters.

I'm also glad for a little fleshing out of Xiao Pei. If I'm completely honest in the starting handful of chapters I was kinda expecting her to be another romance option for Youji at some point. Course, I dropped that as the Ren train built up steam; but that aside it's still nice to see the loyal assistant types getting a smidgeon of focus rather than being just -there-.

I don't see where you got the idea that they're doing that trope? Just because she's not wearing glasses later doesn't mean her glasses before had anything to do with her attractiveness, her competence, or anybody's perception of either of those things. In fact the narrative makes it pretty clear that she's perfectly competent and is doing her best in an overworked position. She probably just got contacts because they're convenient. Honestly if I could get the things in and out of my eyes I'd wear them too. Glasses are a pain in the ass.

Remember kids, when you are in a shitty workplace just keep working hard and one day you too will be rewarded! ^^#

Actually, the moral seems to be more along the lines of "If your job sucks, look for an opportunity to move to a better one."

Her tasks were all shitty, until she actively went after an employer that she knew was cool and would treat her decently, and now things are better.

I think both interpretations are correct. If your life is not satisfying, you need both patience to wait for a good opportunity to improve your lot and the resolve to both notice and to grasp it in a timely fashion once it arises.

Fufu is a asshole. She clearly noticed XiaoPei wasn't alright, yet she complained about it in a backhanded way that make herself look good.

The chapter didn't say that, though. Xiao Pei is shown being in a shitty position, but it wasn't framed as a "what to do". If anything, if we want to overinterpret it as a message, it would be a critique of how people in showbiz (or other jobs) acts toward help. The people overworking her weren't treated as being in the right.

She's in a shit job, perseveres, then gets rewarded for her perseverance by a lucky break. Insofar as this has any message it is definitely "stick with it" instead of "fuck this shit, go somewhere where people will treat you with respect before a mental breakdown will make that decision for you".

I definitely saw some of this. "Thank goodness someone showed me the respect necessary not to let my head crack open in a fall on the stairs. Now I have enough motivation to get back to the grind!" It's nice she found the opportunity when she did, but it would've been cool to be shown Xiao Pei considering other options.
