"Aaahhh we can never be togetherrrr."

Okay but all that aside you can still tell the kid it's an awful idea to date someone because of feelings of obligation.

Just catching back up and: wow that's a lot of dog killing.

The time travel arc to detail more about the fundamental mechanics of the world and plot leading into a finale immediately struck me as a very "Chinese transmigration romance web novel type" of development. Which I'm sure makes zero sense to people who aren't as Mediocre Fiction-pilled.

Yeah mass shootings to set an edgy tone in your action manga isn't the most well-considered idea. Particularly when the manga is going out of its way to make the shooter's argument sympathetic in some goof way.

We've entered the Satsuki Zone so probably won't see progress on this for a while, but now that we've gotten info on his crush my endgame for this manga is seeing Rika date (not necessarily her, but).

Mod Note

Deleted a swath of comments with little relevance to the manga. Banned the obviously transphobic commenter. This thread is for the manga After School Mate. Manga threads generally aren't the most appropriate place for long discussions about the essence of transness. Thanks.

Oh wow it was even worse?

See the thing is, I've actually seen a few examples that don't fall into the "idealized, looks indistiguishable from any cis woman in the manga" version or the "transphobic stereotype that looks like someone's half-rememembered idea of buffalo-bill+a drag queen" and like.. IDK they still kind of felt off? They were giving the trans female characters subtle "masculine" features in a way that didn't feel like it was inspired by bad stereotypes sure, but those features were present in the trans female characters weren't necessarily present in any of the male characters. The fact of the matter is that for a lot of anime/manga character art-styles the only major differences between young men and women are breasts, haircut, and clothes. A lot of the other stuff that is used to distinguish character designs is highly variable (height, over-all body shape) stuff that doesn't have a direct analogy to real life physiology (the way that eyes are drawn, for example) or stuff that like a couple months of hrt or accomplished enough makeup skills would do away with.

Basically my feelings. Sometimes it's apparent a creator spent so much time thinking about how to be "taken seriously" that they ended up spending zero time thinking about the lazy/uninformed expectations they're making such an appeal to.

I don't know whether the overall plot is headed anywhere special, but so far the moment-to-moment in this manhua is fucking astounding.

I'm so fucking sorry to the one person whose lighthearted take I was trying to affirm for dragging you into a whirlpool of toxic jumper-ons. Your opinion was as chill and non-incendiary as anything else in this thread and you didn't deserve this heat.

So, i want to add my 2 cents to the story so far as a whole....

This story is kinda similar to Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl, in that its esentally a trans story but without actual trans characters. Mitsuki's situation feel kinda to me, as a transfem, like if a trans person didnt tell their potential new partner that theyre trans, for any of the diffrent reasons trans people sometimes act like that. Obviously, mitsuki isnt trans and probably wont be, but you get what im saying, right?

Oh I totally get you. It's part of what makes "low-end" gender fucky premises like this so silly on their face.

I do appreciate the clear representation of Mitsuki's attractiveness correlating with her level of comfort, and the ways certain public spaces are regulated to make that more difficult for her.

Here wondering at folks who are lamenting Ouka-senpai's customer. She's the nightmare case: prevents the worker from expanding their clientele, tries to dictate more and more of their lifestyle, actively pursues them when they try to cut things off, and eventually makes it impossible to continue working.

On her most recent YouTube stream, it seemed like Canno was talking about this manga with her chat starting at around 21:30.

Unfortunately, I have no way myself of knowing what she said. Probably nothing to do with the publishing, at any rate.

It's surprisingly easy for me to I simply can't believe this succubus romance manga relies so heavily on slut-shaming and monogamy.

What is a student teacher.. A teacher that's also a student I guess. Even still I highly doubt marriage was gonna be their biggest obstacle in this case.
This manga makes no sense lol. Still, it's a little bit of fun I guess so whatevs works.

Basically. A student without a teaching license that assists with the responsibilities of one or more teacher/professor faculty, including occasionally leading a lecture. My limited understanding is this may be with done either with the intention of obtaining a license to teach or not.

So I don't get the conflict here. Why would she ever object to getting drunk? Especially if it's to find the way out? Drinking alcohol is, like, her whole thing.

Basically what Naori has to do here is get Hinata drunk specifically to use her ogre powers to escape their situation, as opposed to just giving her food she needs to live. While I won't spoil how this plays out in the next chapter, Naori's main concern is that Hinata hates being an ogre, hence the whole search for the Kinpen Sudoku Sake, so the idea of forcing or even tricking Hinata to drink specifically to become an ogre isn't something Naori's keen on doing.

Huh. I guess I always characterized Hinata's distaste for being an ogre originating from the limitations it placed on her, particularly by requiring her to be dependent on other people for food. I didn't think she had any inherent problem with being an ogre, just its limitations. Under that light it would have made sense for her to even be happy or excited about finally having some aspect of her burden being useful, which is where I assumed the plot point was going.

There's also the resemblance of what she's preparing to do to what the fuckheads in chapter one were doing: pressing Hinata to drink with an ulterior motive under the pretext of wanting her to enjoy herself.

Frankly, I think it'd be better for Naori to be fully up-front about it and hope that's where the story goes.
