Yup... I still so don't get how we go from Still Sick to that...

This is a fantastic shitshow, I don't know what are you complaining about (except for the fact that so far this isn't yuri at all and I'm not convinced it will turn out this way but I'm fine with this :P)

... and I don't know, I don't think it's all that different from Still Sick in tone, it also had a tendency to go very melodramatic, with a distinctive sense of humour. Seems very similar to me in that sense.

That's basically where I am. Still Sick was very focused on the Shimizu/Maekawa relationship, and was pretty grounded. This has a lot more contrivances, but I think it's still enjoyable.

Yeah I agree, very easy to imagine this being flipped him expressing self pity rather than hostility, "I don't want to see her because I'm soooo guilty, I would feel just terrible to have her see me after all that's happened, she should forget me and go live happily somewhere else, etc etc etc".

I think Takimiya's late introduction is more to clearly hint at Kazuha and Haruka's potential romantic future. Since the story likely won't commit to that at this time, her inclusion can help imply things without anyone saying it directly. She does seem relatively nice, though I do agree with the other commenter. She quietly put Haruka down there and doesn't seem to view her well, even if she means to be nice.
