I'm like 80% sure I read that already, was this posted here before?

Anyway, very short and kinda weird, even after the reading I'm not sure if the mermaid thing is a metaphor for something or not.

Dunno about on here, but I know this was posted to Mangadex a few months ago.

So Moe calls her cute, then comments about her being like a mom, and then goes about wanting to see her in a nurse outfit. Mermaids sure have weird kinks.

Ah probably, I scour Mangadex for yuri from time to time, must have been it :P

Yeah, it happens often enough for me that whenever I have deja Vu with something on either site I just chalk it up to reading it before on the other.

She kind of explicitly says that it IS a metaphor of she feeling like an alien out of her element. We would say "feeling like fish out of water" and dunno if Japan has a similar idiom. But mermaids are certaily cuter than fishes, so I'm glad she sees herself as one and not as a big seabream .

Ten years later, they are still friends, the nurse constantly tries dating guys to forget Moe, while Moe is angsting matters as one does.

There, your happiness levels are reduced to a safer level, no need to thank me.

Those are just Moe's delusions. She's old enough to live alone, but she still pretends she's a mermaid princess. She's a big chuuni, this one.

... right, I guess I can't read. I somehow read the first page as "I sometimes forget that I'm not human" or something to that effect, and I'm pretty sure I made the same mistake when I first saw it on Mangadex because I remember having the same thought :P

She has the very rare Mermaid Mom Nurse fetish. Typically not seen outside of Touhou fandom.

I honestly don't get why these one shot stories, about unfulfilled love, are so popular. I just find them frustrating. To me, it's like waiting for an action movie villain to get their comeuppance only for them to get away with their crimes, in the end. The artwork is really cute though.

Agreed! I feel like there was nothing setting it apart from the crowd but I really enjoyed it! Well, the two of them not being able to convey their feelings is a bit frustrating, but it’s just a one shot, so I kinda don’t mind

We need a new tag. I propose "Useless Lesbians", it's like "Idiot Couple", but they aren't a couple yet.

The metaphor is meaningful
There is a cool 2 level parallel between hiding that she's a a mermaid in a world of human//hiding she's gay in a world of straight people and the other level : "I'm hiding that I'm a mermaid so that I can stay close to her"//"If I tell her I have feelings for her she could drive me away, I must must hide that"
anyway it's not great though it is certainely not meaningless
