I think it's a bad idea to get into these complicated subplots in a manga told 4 pages at a time, especially when the author is kinda bad at conveying things clearly :P

Sumiko is great at conveying these things BUT I really think the 4 page format makes it extremely hard to notice for the reader. I noticed after rereading that it actually flows a LOT better and you notice a lot of clever things and foreshadowing when you have multiple chapters available at once.

But yeah the 4 page format really limits the storytelling although it is what allows Sumiko to polish the visual front.

I always find it underwhelming when nearly all developments around characters come externally, instead of any internal growth any of them achieve on their own ...

I’ve been feeling kinda like that too with this last arc, but I think that comes from the 4 page once a week format? Makes it feel too slow but after a few re-readings you realize it flows better when you have more chapters to read all out at once. Both Aya and Mitsuki grew quite a bit thanks to each other, they became comfortable being in their own skin like, Aya not being self conscious about her love for western music and Mitsuki not being afraid to show her real self. To be fair Narita has had to butt in a few times, but the girls have also done some growth by themselves

Okay so the payoff is definitely coming. Arai has spent a while setting up Aya’s jealousy and how she feels like she’s just a friend and has no right to keep Mitsuki to herself BUT this new arc is probably gonna tackle that and their relationship is hopefully going to get some nice development

Okay this seems really interesting. It is definitely gonna get weird but I want to see how Usui explores the themes of sexual identity, fetishes, the shame that comes with it, what influenced them, etc. Idk man, those are just very human feelings

Did a binge read from the beginning, it's interesting to see how much the characters have changed without changing at all. I'm really impressed with the character development with so few pages and panels. Kinda makes me want to make all the other manga artists read this and then let them rework their series into something better, (shorter, concise, and focused).

I’ve seen people say this manga is mostly swag with no story, but you can really see how the characters have been developing over time. It is so much easier to notice if you read the whole thing in one go rather than four pages a week.

^^Oh man the character design was absolutely divine and it was an overall pretty good looking show. The story and world had me completely intrigued until it got completely ruined by the end :^(
