I was going to do a snarky post about how their relationship will never last because it started with blackmail, but instead I’m just reminding everyone of the irony that this planet-sized ball of cotton-candy fluff started with the Blackmail tag.

i mean yeah, sometimes i´m so engrossed in the cuteness that i forgot that their relationship in fact started with blackmail. Props to the author for making the transition as smooth as possible, their relationship really evolve and progressed to this point in a somewhat natural way
it´s nothing but amazing what the author did

yeah, it's almost hard to believe that the story from the beginning of this series and the story from this series rn are the same story.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot since reading 100 days, as the coercive elements in that series really made me hate it before it could even get to any fluff but this series somehow managed to never become unbearable, even though the original premise is objectively speaking quite messed up.

I think the main difference between the two is how Sora acts and how Ayaka's reactions are shown as well. I almost didn't remember, but while Sora's first request is forcing Ayaka into a kiss, her second and third request are already rather harmless (going home together, hugging Ayaka) and also indicate a certain vulnerability and character depth on her side that ultimately is what Ayaka comes to find fascinating about her too. If Sora had just continued to escalate her requests instead, she would've probably come of a lot more manipulative and unlikeable.

The next two words out of Sora's mouth better be "marry me."

I'm hopeful but I'm not gonna be holding my breath for it.

That was cute. ^_^

And our other couple used the chance to come out to their friends as well.

It also helps that Sora never committed rape.

Everything in this series lately has been really cute and wholesome but I still can't help but feel off about it. I actually prefer the beginning part since I thought it was more interesting than just pure fluff and messed up relationships are always fun, but I really don't like how everything messed up before is forgotten just cuz MC fell in love.

I really wished they addressed the blackmail thing and how Sora did have ulterior motives from the get go since she had a crush on Ayaka before they "properly" met. All those plot lines were kinda just brushed under the rug so I wished they sat down and had a proper convo about it with each other. Honesty and all that ya know. Without addressing the plot of the first half, it just romanticizes and rewards messed up behavior without acknowledging it was messed up.

Well the series is still ongoing so maybe they'll throw in a casual mention of it eventually (or they already did do that in a previous chapter and I forgot)

I also wanted to add, since there's some comparisons to the 100 days manga, I think I actually hold Lonely Girl to a stricter moral code than 100 Days. The 2nd fluffy half has all been about how to have a proper, healthy relationship, so it is actually more important for this series to have conversations about the blackmailing and ulterior motives. 100 Days I've accepted is pretty much ridiculous porn so I'm able to turn my brain off and not think too hard about it, although that series does have it's own set of issues.....

Edit: so i was reminded they already had a small talk a while back and i did forget, whoops ^^;;

it's funny that at first sora is the one who aims for a kiss and quiet an aggressive on skinship department and now how the tables have turned whereby ayaka is now the one who most of the time initiate the skinship like kissing and stuff, and the one who craves for it XD. I really like those sweet kissing gestures like kissing on the side temple, rubbing it hard on my single ass. i'll never get tired of this wholesome relationship. now sora tell her!do the did!do the did!do the did! cliffhanger at it's finest.

Why does that even matter? They're honest now that they're in a relationship. What would be accomplished by going back and "confessing" that they once had "ulterior motives"?

What's being rewarded is not the "messed up behavior" but the fact that they're confronting and dealing with their feelings as they developed.

Hot and heavy interrupted once again. But the heart palpitations are real just from popping that question. "Will you... go to prom with me?"

God I love this series. I like how it was something simple and not a megadrama plot thread.

I love this series so much. Thank you very much to schuyguy and everyone helping scanlate this series since the start.
This is the penultimate chapter, right? God, I won't know what to do with myself without having this series to look forward to every month.

We all knew it would go perfectly fine with telling their friends but, after all the build up about it part of me was hoping it wouldn't be that easy. Even just like, a chapter or so where one of them doesn't understand same-sex relationships or is upset they kept it secret for so long. It doesn't matter much I still love everything about this series, just a little spice would've been nice I think

"...marry me?" Or, something along those lines. Or maybe it's a Chapter 44 moment, who knows?

Ah, they're in Otaru. I have been standing at that exact same spot where Sora and Ayaka tell their friends what's up (for anybody who cares: it's along the famous Otaru Canal).

Man, I miss Japan. I hope to get there soon!

I've been thinking for a while now that the Blackmail tag really only applies to the first couple volumes. Even if they're not "together" by the end of chapter 10, they've certainly moved beyond using each other dishonestly.
