1) Kei don't love Rei back romantically and sooner or later will find a boyfriend. 2) She does love her back, but then all the plot suddenly looks really fucking stupid. Just a bunch of teenagers worrying over nothing instead of finally fucking each other.
Absolute nonsense. Human relationships and social interactions simply do not work that simplistic.
What I would bet is that Kei actually likes her back, but perhaps because of emotional imaturity, she didn't connect the dots yet, she didn't connect that what she's feeling/what she thinks about Yokoe is romantic love, the author jokes about it in the maid chapter, "Excuse-me, I don't understand how it's only a problem when Yokoe calls you cute." Exactly because it makes no sense other than Yokoe liking her back and the fact that she doesn't sees it is ironic and funny.
Yokoe has some internal homophobia going on exactly because KEI has it, SHE was the one who said two girls wouldn't work, HER backstory made her think that close-minded and her self-discovery would naturally be harder and slower. It's not "teenagers worrying over nothing", it's teenagers coming to terms with their own identity, teen years are literally the moment in our lives where we're trying to figure shit out and that's the story we're reading. It's teenagers trying to figure out their own lives.
I was the type of kid who already knew what I liked before I was 11, but even after entering my teens, there was a lot of crap that I needed to figure out about myself and that's basically what i'd say is going on with Yokoe too, she's figuring her self-worth but instead of putting herself first, she's thinking "No I like the status quo", but why does she? She stays in that situation because she's scared of losing her best friend/the person she loves. It's the hard decision of choosing to let go of something that is hurting you(thus prioritizing yourself). After all we saw countless times the girls saying that it's like she's getting dumber as the days goes by and I have a faint recolection of Yatsude saying that probably the reason why she's like this is because of the unrequited love she's trying to hide, only to stab her in the back by deteriorating her mental health, look at it as a defense mechanism.
