I kind of wish the theory about her being a miko trying to protect her friend had been true. Would have made a nice contrast with the monster girl, but I guess they’re both monsters, which seems less interesting to me, but oh well.

I wasn't expecting a fox. That's just so cool. I also like they create a registry with magic that plants memories in the people that read it. That's neat.

Is Miko also waiting for Hinako to "ripen"? I would think so, it doesn't make sense to me that a monster would defend her from other monsters just because. In which case, if this doesn't send Hinako even deeper into her suicidal depression, then I don't know what will.

Aw neat, I’m glad she’s a fox. Kinda ship it now too. She might be waiting for hinako to “ripen” but miko said that she’d protect hinako “just for her (you)” so that could also mean she is just protecting her, but for what? Out of pity maybe? But surely she hasn’t been around since the accident? Then she’d kind of be “real” right? From my understanding she has just replaced the real miko so she should “exist” right? And if she was around for years then surely she’d have the real miko s house and family and a phone? Unless I’ve misinterpreted how “miko” came to be?

I think Miko is protecting her and she’s mad at Shiite for exposing her as being a monster.

Well the point of “outing her for no good reason” is because Shiori wants to alienate her from her friend who would otherwise have stood in the way of Shiori preparing Hinako to be eaten. If Miko is protecting Hinako then that’s just as much of a problem for our mermaid girl as if Miko was trying to eat her. Remember that Shiori is really really not doing this out of the kindness of her heart, and if anything she’s closer to the main antagonist.

It would be nice if Miko was protecting her, they end up as a couple, and fight off Shiori in my opinion.
