In defense of the manga, the only person claiming Momo is somehow to blame for this situation is literally the person who just blackmailed and raped Nanase, so her trying to come up with some kind of convoluted justification for her actions makes at least some amount of sense.

Still, I agree with FlufflyCow's comments above as well, this entire development is just really weird and uncomfortable. Also, from the current flow of the story it seems like we won't even get Nanase having any real remorse for her behaviour.
Maybe, instead of having Mary as this weird sexual predator interested in Nanase, making her a sort of "white knight" who cares for Momo and "defends" her against Nanase would have been cool. That way, both Nanase and Momo would have reasons to reflect on themselves and change for the better. But that is just fantasy at this point...

My belief is that mangaka generally suck at actually writing stories because they spend the time and effort that a novelist would put into writing, into developing their art instead. So I'm normally inclined, albeit reluctantly, to give some leeway to bad writing because being good at both art and writing is a big task. There's no excusing this nonsense r*** plot, though...

This manga was shaky as hell in the first few chapters and it's going downhill again fast these last few chapters, but at least the middle parts with Ren and Ginno were cute. Maybe when this stupidity is sorted out, we'll get a decent few chapters at the end.

I think it's better to not generalize. There are plenty of mangaka that are good and even great at writing stories, and of course there are ones that aren't so good. There are also lots of amateur mangaka and novelists producing works, and ones that just do it casually for fun. Ultimately I think writing a story and a good one at that, or even just a decent one, is difficult in general. Regardless of if you're a novelist, mangaka, script writer, so fourth.

It's really weird how the Aquarium date chapter and a couple chapters before it were honestly fine despite the incredibly shaky start, I thought hey the manga is improving and the author is learning! I guess not with these recent chapters though, the author for some reason did a swift swerve off the road and right off a fucking cliff haha

I'm still glad I put this manga on double secret probation after chapter 1 and just pop in every so often to see if it's stopped sucking because every time I pop in it sucks even more. This is the dumbest shit I've seen in a while, like some Liberty tier bullshit.

I am not sure if what she did counts as rape but it's definitely sexual assault, right? I am suspecting we won't get a confession either. Ok so I just did a quick re-read of the entirety up to ch29. And all the people saying this is some weird karmic payback really need to stop. Nanase straight up confessed in chapter 1 and Momo never replied. Momo’s reaction to Nanase’s harassment is embarrassed but not uncomfortable and the first time she stays over at Nanase’s house she’s disappointed that nothing happened, it’s pretty clear their feelings are mutual but Momo never moves forward. As for Nanase and the people saying she’s as bad as Mary, Nanase literally makes a point of saying after she gets frustrated at he second sleepover that she wants to make Momo feel good and embarrassed with her consent!.
Basically Mary is a messed up sexual predator who blackmailed and tried to r*pe Nanase, Nanase is an S who’s trying to get Momo to acknowledge her feelings and loves to tease her (but has a f*cking limit), and Momo is typical romance DENSE when it comes to the line between friendship and love.

OK I did a reread of ch 1 and you're right, but man it left so little impact that I (and probably others) have completely forgot about it lol. I don't really blame Momo being dense at that point because it was really mixed in with all the teasing. She is dense after all the other things, but still can't completely blame her since Nanase has done so much to her under the pretense of "teasing" that I'd get that its hard to know when she is being serious.

Regardless if Momo was actually disturbed or only embarrassed still doesn't excuse that Nanase's limits are completely messed up. I mean... her limit is basically just before actual rape. Everything else she did was still sexual harassment. I know it's an ecchi gag manga and we're not really supposed to take it seriously, but because the author keeps poorly jumping back and forth between gag and serious moments, I can't help but feel uncomfortable with Nanase's behavior. Because of how poorly the author is handling the direction of this manga, it feels like the message the author is delivering is that what Nanase is doing is OK as long as you don't go as far Mary's actions.

Author intent is really important when it comes to stuff like this. Like if it's meant to be practically porn with all of the author's fetishes then I'm not gonna bother taking it seriously. But this one always gives off the feeling to me that there's a lesson somewhere and that we should take the actions of these characters seriously.

Normally I would too because the senpai story, although cute and wholesome, is pretty generic and we've seen it a million times before. But God I really dont like how the author is handling Nanase and Momo's storyline at all.
