Also: It's been too long since the last chapter – I'm used to getting my fix of Hino-san every two weeks, not three!

I love how this chapter both somewhat subtly as well as very overtly reinforces just how bad Hino's mental situation was at the start of the manga. Overtly through the PTSD-like reaction to being called from outside the classroom (can't find the chapter where the cause is hinted at - that was during middle school, right?), more subtly by how she completely forgot about her between self-introduction and when Koguma went looking for her. Yeah, she was trying to sleep during classes and self-introductions, but she was right next to Koguma and introduced herself right before her.
I'd attribute that to her being in a seriously bad place mentally.

I would have thought that this flashback actually was Hino's traumatic moment, except that as mentioned she seems to have already not been in a good place even on the first day of class.

The obvious explanation is that her parents died somehow, and it's left her severely depressed. With this series I'm not sure if it actually will follow that preditable route, or twist things around on us.

@ Random Wanderer How she reacted to being called out in class- her eyes- it makes me think this was the second time she had experienced it- and dreaded/feared what it meant- or was something she was fearing would happen.

Something along the line of having lost her parents in middle school- and was called out in a similar manner- and this time she was called out because her elderly grandma or someone who had taken on looking after her, had now also passed on.

Not saying its exactly that, but that is the kind of vibe I got from it.

I totally LOVE the bottom panel on page 8! This mangaka is so good at getting human bodies and limbs and natural poitions perfect! (when they are not doing chibi comedic style).
