I think I like this version better. So far, at least. The original set-up felt a little off, for some reason, and the lead-up to the kiss felt less uncomfortable this time. I don't much care for the drunken kiss or the "please disregard/it never happened/doesn't count" immediately after (although that still could happen here). Overall, this one felt a little more wholesome to me and a better way to establish a future romantic relationship. Of course, my tune could change after the next chapter or two and I still really enjoyed the original.

Huh, the serialization changed quite a few things from the original doujins, but whatever it's just minor details, I'm just glad this got reborn and we will probably get more than 2 chapters now, hopefully.

Motivations: apart from the kiss at the end it all seemed quite natural to me. Touko is a slob doing an old friend a favor. Akari is nervous but Has Standards and is domestic, also finds Touko pretty/hot. Nothing requires explanation.

Kissing your friend's 16 yo daughter (2nd spring of Japanese 3-year high school) who's now trapped living with you, within 24 hours of meeting her, well. Best to apply the "porn plot" filter rather than the "psychological realism" filter, it seems.

Hmm, the previous version gave Touko the excuse of being drunk.

the plot recieved some needed changes, the timing for the kiss was still strange but I look forward to this series continuing.

I feel like this one is less “the sexual/romantic tension building between us slowly overcomes the boundaries we and our society have placed between us as our relationship evolves into something new and beautiful” and more “for my next trick, I will nonchalantly assault this minor who depends on me for housing.”

This is a serialization and redo of a previous manga that only had 2 chapters - presumably it will have more than 2 chapters.

Hm...I wonder if mangaka prefer "useless adults" in age gap to make the pair seem more equal. If she weren't useless, she would possibly become something like a second mother to her, not really something romantic....

Living in utter squalor as an adult is a failure to be a functional adult and a detriment to your health and safety and in this case the health and safety of the minor she agreed to be a caretaker of who instead is forced to play caretaker to her.
