This series has been my obsession for who knows how long now, ever since I first laid my eyes on it. No other manga I was subscribed to on this site could get me as excited and agitated the moment I saw a new chapter appear in my email alerts. It is, as many others have said already, what I would consider a work of art. And with its ending finalized, the promise of its potential fulfilled, I think it really is time for it to be canonized as one of the classics of the genre.
I would ramble on for another fourty paragraphs about the last chapter but I already subjected my partner to that torture so I'll spare the forum. I will just say that I greatly appreciated all the little nods to various characters and that the full color ending pages were perfectly, heart-rendingly placed.
I love this series, and I would like to think that it has taught me something about what love could be and how fallible humans are. But above all, it is of course a story about Touko and Yuu, two characters with a dynamic I heavily relate to, and if I could say anything to Nakatani directly ever, I would have to say thank you for having given life to them in the first place and told their story with such mastery.
This is a nostalgic moment for me, seeing the series end (minus bonus chapters), and I'm very moved right now. It'll be a long time before another series can capture me so, but until then, Yagakime will be the shining pinnacle of storytelling for me to aspire towards.
