It's probably more the fact that we ride Rikka-nee's emotional train from blase to "my sister loves me?" to "my sister loves me!" to total heartbreak. If the entire narrative weren't married so closely to her emotional journey, you'd see different reactions(hopefully).

Given that her entire ride took place over the course of a few minutes the night before, it's hard to imagine she was really all that invested herself.

Even so, it's not like anything in the story said she's been into her sister for a long time or anything. It was a pretty brief misunderstanding on her part, and I'm sure she'll be over it in a day or two, assuming she stops being bitchy. Not exactly a tragedy for the ages.

Literally any romance story ever is about "getting the girl" (or guy). You are virtually indoctrinated to expect the point of view character to get their love interest and to "only" regard this as a "good end". It doesn't matter that it might mean a "bad end" for secondary characters, whether the characters really make sense together, what other consequences there might be - only this matters.

I find the reaction unsurprising. ^^
