Is statutory rape not a thing in Japan? Isn't this girl supposed to be in Middle School?

Fun fact: Child porn was banned in Japan in 2014. They havent fully adjusted to this yet.

fun fact: manga characters aren't actual persons.

"Funny" how people get their panties in a bunch for a character having a sexual encounter, but when said characters are butchered in horror or guro manga, it's somehow acceptable and "just fiction".

It was actual child porn, like, with real children.
Not like it was normal to hold those, it just wasn't a crime. And making child porn was always a crime.

My point is: reading people complaining at length about statutory rape in age-gap manga is getting tedious.

Dont know why you are making strawmen. Said nothing about whats wrong with cartoon child porn, only explaining the mentality that produces so many stories like this. And no one here is saying that they would rather have these girls being slaughtered than having sex. If a large portion of yuri was about girls being horribly murdered then it wouldnt be innapropriate to ask why.

Fun fact: there are less pedophilia criminal cases in Japan than many places that actually ban child porn.

Like in that certain BBC documentary where the journalist got roasted by GuP's mangaka.

You do know that Japan has banned CP, right?

I was not trying to clutch at pearls, I was just trying to start a discussion regarding the normalization of this behavior in manga. I think every manga fan can agree that there are some problematic behaviors advocated in the art form. This series hasn't had enough translated yet, but I would be pretty disappointed if it is played straight as an acceptable form of romance. I know that there are cultural differences, but I'm pretty sure every prefecture in Japan has an age of consent above 13 now.

As for butchery portrayed in manga, I would have a problem if said butchery was presented in a positive manner. I haven't seen any tacit endorsement of actually striving for the scenarios laid out in horror and guro, but I definitely have in manga depicting relationships between adults and pubescent children.

Taking positive portrayal in fiction to be advocacy is what's problematic. One of the great things about fiction is that it provides a way of indulging in fantasies that ought to remain fantasy. It's one of the best things about manga that this is widely accepted.

Could also be taken as challenging the audience to explore the sometimes quite messy conflicts between emotions, morals and laws if you want to interpret it that way...

The systematic positive portrayal is advocacy. Its not an issue when it comes up every now and then, western media has touched on the same themes. Problem is western media hasnt made it a habit of making these themes common. If all of Steven Kings books ended with children having an orgy then its not out of the question to wonder what Kings private interests are, luckily he can blame the cocaine. Indulging in fantasies is fine, its just wierd how the same specific fantasies keep coming up.

Personally I have no issue, some of my favorite yuri manga is age gap, just saying that it isnt innapropriate to talk about it.

I think this is a very silly statement.

But in this story it was her mom going around to the farmer's co-ops, she's the real secret communist here.

Yeah, you're right. I might have well just said that there are problematic behaviors in any art form, but I still think that there are certain frequencies of advocated behaviors which occur more often in specific art forms.

Those would mostly be reflections of their particular sociocultural contexts. The stories people tell and enjoy say a lot of them as a group, as anthropologists have long known.

You can read the third chapter here http://mangahasu.se/yuri-g44.html
I don't know how to feel about it. I don't mind the rape tag, but this is somehow making me feel weird. Not knowing that what you just did was have sex doesn't feel right. Also, I hope the girl will get more assertive if this continues as a relationship, because right now she is basically a starfish sex toy.

Well. I'm not saying it's impossible. But it strikes me as stupid in this context nonetheless.

Especially give the "city girl" approach we got from earlier.
Or at least that's have seen in the first chapter
