I see what the author was going for, but I think the two of them getting to know and like each other was much too vague. So the feelings at the end really don't have much substance.

Imo the point is, that it was or at least started onesided as in the former unrequitted love story. But maybe this time the black haired girl wont end up in this situation and something more develops.

This was nice, the pace was fast but still, nice story.

I know that. But the idea is that the two of them spent time together and got to know each other over the time she kept coming to hopefully run into the other girl. But their conversations at those times are awfully shallow, so we don't see them becoming anything but acquaintances and we need to take it on faith there's anything more between them.

I dunno, I see it as Wataya-san already knowing that her kouhai would reject her, making her open to love already by the time she met Araki-san, but yeah their conversations were a bit shallow

Since this seems placed in high school, it might also be a school where extracurriculars are mandatory, so an extended school time is possible. Not only that, but there are often cram course after the afternoon classes. I'm thinking it might be the "extracurriculars are mandatory" version because the senpai mentions being in a club when she was in school.
