100% this. She used to be a kind, happy, and friendly teacher and had students falling for her and I might get dark but maybe this student hurt herself after she rejected her? Or went into a spiral of depression quit going to school and all of that and maybe the parents blamed her for it? Or maybe I've read too many other stories that go in that direction.

Working with kids is REALLY hard.
It kindaaaaa feels like Ms. Shiratori isn't cut out to be a teacher. She could have the best design skills in the world, and great at explaining things, but if she doesn't know how to step back and have perspective, sh may just end up burning out and ultimately causing herself, and her students unnecessary turmoil. . .

interesting to me how Shiratori's hangup isn't being too close with a student (who has a crush on her), as one might expect from a series like this. But rather the possibility of harming a student by, basically doing her job as a teacher.

So, I have a theory; going back to the previous chapters when Shiratori first starts having flashbacks, it seems like there may have been some sort of romantic element? The crossed-out speech bubbles mention "I can't respond to those feelings," which is... Idk. I'm not even sure who's talking in that scenario.

Now, this is a wild leap but I wonder if Shiratori was actually the one interested in sunflower girl, and she had gotten her hopes up ("oh soon this girl will be going to college w/ me so maybe we could be together")? And the letter in her pocket was like. A confession? I have very little evidence for this being the case other than Shiratori's extreme reaction to the news.

I think this is just the train Shiratori took to get to the job interview to become a teacher, she's shown going to the station and later accepting the job in the next retrospective.

I'd assumed it was just the letter from the student. :p

I'm glad I'm not the only person having trouble interpreting that letter scene. It may get addressed again in another chapter.

I was racking my brain for a while but I thiiiiiiink from what I've heard, sunflowers are a common love confession flower (and the sticker is definitely a sunflower, being the centerpiece of a pivotal moment between the two). So Maju's interpretation here is probably it.

Looks like she's actually slowly starting to get over it, but is still not quite able to properly talk with her students. Let's hope she'll keep improving then.
