It might also just be a red herring and is more-so pointing towards Junna's desire for a proper connection/friend/family that she doesn't get in Barren Hollow's Demon Maze compared to the now with Hane.

I did wonder if the title had become an artifact at this point. Perhaps the original concept was going to have alot more moments similar to Chapter 0 and Chapter 1 where Hane would cause Junna to swoon but it seems quite clear that Hane is the main draw of the series with her fast growth/change of demeanor contrast within one year being the appeal. Coupled with the author wanting to try having the two protagonist occasionally switch on who is the dominant one, and thus we have a string of Hane tripping herself over for Junna while she is none the wiser. I guess to be fair, it has been 21 chapters in snippets and given that we will have an antagonist coming up (likely a former coworker in Barren Hollow's Demon Maze), there is many opportunities to return back with Junna crushing more obviously on Hane.

I do have one outlandish theory if maybe it would end up being reversed. That given how Hane is willing to bear the sins for Junna, that she could end up becoming the evil general while Junna might rediscover herself being a magical girl before, and thus it's another cycle...but yeah, it's falls apart if you think even a little bit about it.

We don't know how long it took for Junna to go from magical girl to evil general, what they did to turn her or since when she is back to public life.

Perhaps it took a single day [I would like to point out that evil Junna wears a blindfold when transformed, despite eye-contact seemingly being necessary for some of Junna's abilities, but it's missing upon being beaten by Hane, potentially symbolising the breakage of some form of mind control, or maybe it symbolises Junna losing/taking off her blindfold during the battle, who knows].
Junna being an active magical girl and rescuing Hane was "a few years ago", so she could've been brainwashed/tortured for years for all we know [like Sonic the Hedgehog, not a good fictional example]. Prolonged trauma and/or C-PTSD can cause memory loss, even to memories unrelated to your trauma [like for Edelgard von Hresvelg, good fictional example].

Either way, now I'm curious if Kurosawa Junna is Junna's actual/original identity.

I don't know how I feel about this weird pseudo 4-koma kinda-not-really past/present way of story telling. I would love to know from past to present the whole story because it feels interesting but oh well, it's very cute.

Also, I love that the title is talking about how the ex-general is crushing on the magical girl but it's very much painfully obvious that the magical girl is in love with the ex-general xD

I think on one hand that it would be interesting if it was an item gained from victory in battle, but on the other hand I can't see that leading to any kind of romantic relationship for our main pair. So I wonder if the older magical girl was a sister or mentor...?

Hane is such an adorable doofus most of the time, it's easy to forget how scary she actually is.

Can I be fr? My working theory about the Older Magical girl is that she's Junna's older sister. Simply because their faces and hairstyles are very similar but the ages don't match AT ALL (plus the eyes are different).

We don't see her family around, and either a conflict with her older sister or hatred for losing her older sister to being a magical girl (be it as in literally losing her or not having her sister around due to "work") is a good origin to Junna's grudge.

I'm starting to understand why everyone was confused earlier with the whole Junna/Senpai thing, since it even lampshades the fact that's exactly what they want us to think.

But isn't Junna younger than Hane? I'm gonna need to go back and double check that, but, wouldn't it make more sense that they just happened to meet the same Senpai as civillians? I know what dramatic irony is and what unreliable narrators are, I'm guessing they put that page in there specifically to throw us off.

Actually, writing all this down made me realize something. I think they're setting up the Mysterious Senpai as the true big bad of the series. There's still an evil villain group that's somehow still recieving orders despite losing their supposed general. My guess is the Mysterious Senpai is here to be a foil to Junna, to emphasize how if a villain can be redeemed a hero can absoluetly fall.

So she is older. I think my point still stands, tho.

I am guessing that Junna lost most of her powers when Hane defeated her. She has been slowly regaining them ever since, but compared to the active magical girls, she is still a civilian.

i think it's interesting how the mystery older magical girl has a very different eye shape to junna. hers are rounder/softer and less angled. i thought maybe it was a vibe based difference but, looking now it's honestly distinct enough that they could very well be two separate people
