Kind of light on the explanation. Like yes we got some miasma lore, but the specifics of what happened and why she thinks these two have a better chance than most, we were kind of told very little. Where the miasma came from seems not that important right now.

Yeah, pretty much. Right now it feels like the only reason those two would have a chance at succeeding where others, talented mages failed is plot armor. "If it's you too, I believe you might be able to create the perfect seal... for some reason."

I get that the story needed to infodump on Sol Oculus to progress the plot, but it was clumsy.

It’s not plot armor it’s the power of Yuri!

This but unironically. All the other saints that we know of have been able to use magic on their own, Nana and Luliam are the only ones who need to work together to purify the miasma. To boot, they need to be intimate to do it (and the more intimate, the better the outcome).
So yeah, the Power of Yuri.

(also, from the very start Luliam has had a lot of magic power, while Nana's seemed to be a pretty good caster, so I guess the question is whether that's due to some special reason or they're just talented)

Oh yeah I was only partly joking around, the power of love saving the day is a classic story beat. She-Ra being one of my favorite examples of “The power of Yuri/Love conquers all”.

"In order to purify the miasma, we must have sesbian lex at the final resting place of the Elder Dragon"

Now that’s what I’m talking about lol

I'm mostly worried that they just spelled out the supposed endgame straight up, which kinda makes me feel it's because it has to happen soon :P

And now we know.

But damn if that rain didn't make me laugh way too much... :D

I assumed the archmage had summoned rain as a diversion.

I certainly got that feeling too after she used the chance to talk to Nana alone, but the actual moment it just suddenly hit with that force... :D

I imagine Luliam is probably slightly heartbroken to see Tamura continue to lie to her like that.

Then again, perhaps she simply takes Tamura at her word after seeing her respond in the exact same way that made her suspicious in the first place.

Poor communication and lying?

Seriously these girls will never overcome anything if they don’t work together and are honest with each other v_v

From what I gather, it's unclear why Astora divulged that one detail (i.e., nobody has survived attempting the final boss) to Nana and kept it from Luliam.

Also, I actually like the idea of Luliam and Nana scheming behind each other's back...

God I hate this bullshit Idiotic asshole characters who are incapable of talking only to make everything worse in the end. Not only does it make characters incredibly unlikable it´s also insanly lazy from a writing perspective.

Not even very clear from the story why this matters, surely this purification mission is understood to be dangerous anyway - they already almost got miasma'd once

Of course she would notice. So you'd better tell her, your magic works best if the two of you are open with each other.

Nothing that can't be solved by Nana proposing.

It's crazy to me that they haven't even tried kissing to see if it jumpstarts her magic back.

Man, y'all are harsh. Yeah, miscommunication plots can be annoying, but it actually makes sense here. (Psychologically, not saying it's a great idea.) Nana wants to support Lu, she thinks that if Lu knew everything she would refuse to go and risk Nana, thus Nana's keeping quiet.

I think it's because we know we'll have to go through an undetermined amount of chapters to resolve this communication issue. Communication issues can be a effective but I think a lot of us can't help but be in the mindset of here we go again lol

Technically they've been communicating poorly the entire manga, but this part feels like a tropey version of that, rather than the character based one that it's been previously.

Yes, it's that in these romance manga specifically, these subplots are rarely original in any sense. What this means is it feels as though I'm rereading something in order to get back to what I'd originally found interesting. It therefore feels like my enjoyment was put on pause. That's not as fun. If the track record wasn't so bog standard then there'd be no issue.

So it's not a problem with having miscommunication, it's a problem with the very formulaic structuring of that subplot that these series tend to have. If this one does something unique or meaningful, I'll be happy; but I've made that bet often in romance manga and I've rarely been happy afterwards. In other series with miscommunication it works wonderfully. This is still only a minor issue anyway; so long as it's not super drawn out, it'll pass and be nothing really.

Not to mention that a plot that relies on the characters not knowing something the readers know is usually weaker. It can work wonderfully, of course. Generally with things that rely on tragedy, dramatic irony, or are heavily character-based, you may achieve things that wouldn't be possible otherwise. But to choose that path is a huge risk - and this story hasn't exactly shown it has the strength to pull it off.
