Battan is probably my new favorite, her stuff always hits so hard no matter what direction she takes it in... I do wonder if we'll ever know Futami's true intentions or if she's really just really into making manga and is kind of fickle and doesn't care that it's kind of ruining people's lives lol. And i am on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Nanakusa will fall into the same trap as everyone else or come out on the other side!

This was also my first thought. Her whole game is giving them just enough attention to make them feel special and loved and then using that to turn them against each other and make them feel like they have to outperform everyone else to prove they're the most worthy. What Futami said doesn't necessarily exclude herself.

However, the username does kind of point to ruirui and that "working group" was 100% about distracting and scoping out Nanakusa, so it could also very much be one or both of them.

i don't think it could be futami this time but she could be aware the hate is coming from one of them. she doesn't seem like the type to do the dirty work directly.

Either way, there's little reason for Futami to say things like "it could come from someone close" besides planting the doubt in Nanakusa, so it's immediately very suspicious.

I, too, am in the "Futami is a horrible, toxic manipulator and abuser" boat.

I can't think that the Futami heel turn will be exposed this soon, so it probably is Rui.

I'll resume the scanlation. Obviously the simulpub on Kmanga killed the momentum for English speaking people.

When I started scanlating it, it was all over twitter.

When Kmanga paywalled the simulpub English version and I stopped, it just died.

I wonder if having your release behind a chapter or two would be the way to go? So people could go to the official release if they want to see the latest chapter. Just a thought, and thanks for your work!

Chapter 8 had been sitting on my HD for a while, because of the simulpub and the fact it could impact Battan, but obviously Japanese readers don't especially like this manga and foreign readers ignored/missed the Kmanga simulpub, so it barely made a ripple in the sales.

If resuming the scanlation can expand the reach, all the better.

It's evident the manga is not doing well, they just offered a limited time thingy in Kmanga so all chapter are free (or exchanged for those free ticket things they do over there) except the last two (12 and 13). But I agree, and this from someone who paid for all of them in Kmanga because I want to support Battan as much as possible, Kmanga has the most horrendous model for manga readers. 'Fatale Game' is the only thing that could make me pay for anything in there, because I desperately wanted to support it.

Super sad, this manga is fantastic and I hope it can pick up momemtum somehow. It's even better for me than previous Battan works, and that's a high bar to clear. I wish they could have an English physical release, people are usually on board with supporting yuri manga in trouble when they can get their hands on it.

"Meta" is how I feel about it too. I don't want to pay for "coins", I'd rather pay for the JP physicals to support my favorite authors - it's cheaper and I have something to display on my shelf. But then does that make it seem as if English readers don't care about official translations? Now I feel like I have to think like a businessman instead of just being a supportive fan. It's just annoying.

Anyway, thanks for continuing the scan. I've seen posts talk about this series recently but not a lot of people actually discussing it on social media.

I guess she's one of the best editors there if everyone is that obsessed with her and wanting to make it to the top (Though I would assume that's what most mangaka want lol)

Well personally I think it’s because being a mangaka is a very exploitative work, editors and magazines are harsh with them even thought they exist thank to them. It’s like being a salary-man or OL I guess (the same trope happens with those two groups, a person gives them the minimum amount of human warm and that is enough to make them fall madly in love)

If you can, buy the raws and/or official english version. According to the author’s twitter, this series is under risk of cancellation.

I have a left field prediction that MC is going to steal the editor's harem somehow.

The editor operates like a pimp. Intentionally favoring new girls to make the older ones jealous and hate each other so that they work harder to gain the pimp's favors. The end game is that if all the girls work harder, the pimp makes more money. If a girl is used up, the pimp can simply cut her loose and continue to find a young girl as a repalcement.
