Damn, I feel sad now. I lost a loved one this year and this one hits differently.

I love stories about people figuring out they are dead, and also stories about helping the dead find peace, I wish this was part of an anthology series about people getting into the elevator instead of a one shot.

I think it was handled well. The one left behind is grieving and torturing herself with thoughts of "if only I had been there". People who didn't know her talk about the morbid fact she died in the building they're all in. While the MC is clearly upset but is also worried about her friend (maybe because she thinks she'll do the same as her) so she focuses on that.

Here come the tears again...

I feel like this would make a great series, with the evaluator girls as the main protagonists. Throughout the series, we could see her guiding all kinds of lost souls who died from various tragedies.

wow this one made me cry, considering Sayaka Kanda's (a jp singer) 3rd death anniversary was yesterday, and she died in the same way as Kazuki. Even Yamagishi looks like Kurosaki Maon (another singer and Sayaka's friend). Maybe the author took inspiration of these real life events to create the story. Good one-shot.

I regret to inform the MC that the afterlife is actually feudal Japan and it's no fun at all. She might get lucky and be born with powers, though.

An elevator attendant as a psychopomp is definitely a new one to me. Cool idea.

This was good! I think suicide is a very complicated subject and it was handled well. It doesn't need to be yuri but the two of them clearly had a close and meaningful relationship.

whelp. this made me cry first thing in the morning. dunno why i thought it's a good idea to start my day reading a manga tagged Suicide, but here we are.
Either way, the reason why I cried, was that I felt it actually handled the subject rather well.

It appears that the MC died by karō jisatsu (過労自殺, suicide from overwork), which is classified as a type of karōshi (過労死, death from overwork) by Japan's government agency as a form of work-related harm.

The problem of overwork is very very, VERY common among Japanese people. Many overworked themselves to the point of, when they are watching subway train arriving, they had the thought of "if I step one step furthur I don't need to go to the company tomorrow anymore, isn't that wonderful?!", so they, just died in such a situation, unconsciously. It's very horrifying.

There's a manga that describe this kind of tendency of overworking in Japan society. The title in Japanese is 『「死ぬくらいなら会社辞めれば」ができない理由』 (roughly translate to: "Just resign from work if you're about to die", the reason it's undoable). I'm unable to find a English translation of the title, unfortunately.

Though Western people may less be likely to find themselves in such situation (I support IWW btw), I still hope everyone who find their work very hard for themselves read this manga.

This piece of comic is really good, I love it. Though there maybe (maybe, the author never made it clear) no romantic relationship involved in the narrative, the feeling of mates looking out for each other is very real.
And there's P28 that mentioned some struggles (family, past, etc.) the MC was going through, but never made clear. It's possible that this also contributed to MC's burn out. This comic may described the whole story in a lighter tone, but it's never meant to be taken lightly.
In the end, there's always a time when you have to let go, no matter what, or how you feels. When that timing arrives, isn't it better if you can find peace in yourself, instead of drown in agony?
